Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13022 comments At least the timing worked out for a chunky book, as I'm currently enjoying my re-read of The Potato Factory immensely!

And then I have books 2 and 3 to read as well soon (before I forget what happened in 1 again 😆), so all good for chunky books for now (they all have a handy 'I' MC too, which is helpful for UNO purposes!

Normally, so do I, but I think this may work in that format. (or not.... I'll find out. 😉)

Melindam | 8375 comments On a different note, I find myself middle-of-the-road with Lessons in Chemistry. I don't dislike it, but it won't be a favourite for sure.

And I'm starting to get bothered about the very unsubtle, black-and-white picture (all men are misogynist a-holes, all women, apart from the MC are vile, stupid conformists, and I think we'll be getting soon to the atheists=good, religious people=bad categorisation ... )

message 3254: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13022 comments I usually get that way too, but I thought this one stayed on the right side of the line for the most part. There are several very decent characters of both genders (you may not have gotten that far yet) that play pivotal roles, but the premise of the book did call for background characters to be horrible, in order to show the difficulties faced by women at the time.

Hope it picks up for you!

Fortune Funhouse (Miss Fortune Mystery, #19) by Jana Deleon

I spy an alligator/crocodile. Might be a toy but I'd count it for the reptile task. Everyone else ok for that.

message 3263: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Lovely crocodiles. 😊

message 3264: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13022 comments Definitely!

Nice find, I was beginning to think I should dig through my previously read books to find something 😆

I spent Joe's karate lesson going through every book available on my library's app.

Shades of that snitch hunting!

message 3267: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13022 comments I have a book with crocodile in the title on my tbr, but - rather inconsiderably - there are none such on the cover.

message 3268: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13022 comments I never used to be able to do anything like that when I took Sean to karate, as the church hall it was held in never let any signal through.

Many grumpy parents in that place 😆

Cat wrote: "Shades of that snitch hunting!"

Give me a space of time when I can't leave the space I'm in and my phone and I'll get stubborn.

This session of the week there is just enough signal. The one on Wednesday not so much; luckily my cryptic crossword app doesn't need signal.

Melindam | 8375 comments Oh, OK, I will (ahem) sacrifice myself (ahem) by re-listening to Murderbot for the low page count task. 🤭

I'm simply being my awesome self, I cannot help it.

Thankfully it also fits the AI uno task. (Not that I looked to check, obvs.)

I can lend you my Muderbot mug to have a beverage in to sustain you during that hardship... 😆

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13022 comments I got it through Illumicrate. One of the very few things they sent I actually liked before cancelling.

It's this one:

I am looking at dates for myself! I'd been waiting to see what the view was on the production, as Jamie Lloyd can be VERY bad. but the review suggests it's a win (for once!), helped by lovely Tom, obvs!

Melindam | 8375 comments For some inexplicable reason the algorhythms of FB, Youtube, Pinterest, etc all think I'm fixated on Tom H. No idea why. 😇🤭

it also has a rating that's high enough in case yours fits somewhere else Mel, if not, no worries.

I'm keeping eyes peeled for a lost MC.
