2. Person wearing a cloak or cape on the cover
3. MPG Travel
4. word BOREDOM in text
5. features a powerful character (your interpretation)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments I've got the page count with one I'll be finishing tonight or in the morning...

Magpie murders has boredom in the text according to Google books but it doesn't give a page number and it's the last word of a sentence so they give me boredom. then the next sentence. I'm listening to the audio and don't have a way to get the actual number or the full sentence.

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments I've gotcha!

hubby had it on his kindle 😁

Melindam | 8375 comments Yaaay! Team❤️Work

message 3106: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments I guess Martin Luther is as strong a character as it gets, but He'll keep, Sophie/Sammy if someone in your book fits the description. :)

message 3107: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Meh, I think the characters in my book like to think they are, but...

Yay! Thank you Sammy and hubby.

I wouldn't count any of the characters in this as strong or powerful. All v flawed.

message 3110: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments In that case, Martin Luther stays. :)

message 3111: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments I guess this is more like a coat than a cloak, right?

Death in the Spires by K.J. Charles

message 3112: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Yeah, looks like a coat from what I can see...

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments I've got travel with an upcoming! 😁

Oh, I see Cat's grabbed it. One you were wanting to read anyway? (I have that on my tbr too actually!)

message 3114: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments On a positive note, it will probably work either for Oxford or for university setting for the Tolkien challenge. 😊

Cat (cat_uk) | 10122 comments Mod
the travel one also has dictionary :)

message 3116: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Excellent! Because I know I came up with the task, but I'm not reading a book set in Leeds. It's bad enough I have to live here! 😆

Not only multiple birds, but crossing challenges with the one stone. Score!

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments I grabbed the flower because I'd snagged one from audible+ recently that works.

Have about half a dozen books lined up tbr this week, then will see what's still in need of filling.

message 3120: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments actually, the book I found in my upcoming with a travel MPG also has empty chairs on the cover, so I'm slotting it in there!

message 3121: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Found an audible plus listen Fifth Sun: A New History of the Aztecs that will work for the Mexico/Central America task, so I'm grabbing it.

Moriarty: The Devil's Game. it's on audible+ (audio only). It's split into 2 "chapters" of just over half an hour each. So very short. there'as no page limit for this challenge, right?

And it's listed as a single volume on GR...

Awesome! Been ages since I read that one. The Belgariad was our kids' gateway from kids books to more grown up stuff. Our son was almost named Garion 😆

They were the first of my parents fantasy books that I read so did the same for me. The other was L.E. Modesitt Jr.

message 3143: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments I used to be in a writing group (back in the dawn of the interwebs, when said groups were email based!) with L.E. Modesitt Jr.!

Really nice guy. He was always really good when critiquing people's stories, always had great advice.

message 3144: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Wow, I've never heard of him (not that that counts!), so any recs? 😊

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments His Recluce books (starting with The Magic of Recluce ) are his most popular, though I was personally always quite fond of the Spellsong cycle.

Sophie (drsophie) | 5692 comments Mod
Recluce is massive series and seems to still be coming. It has an interesting tale on good Vs evil and how that can change a society.

Imager series is another of his that I've enjoyed and is less epic in scope.

Being in a writing group with him sounds like an excellent experience. Glad to hear that he was good about his interactions as well.

Melindam | 8375 comments I'll check with Domi if his next Wimpy Kid has a board/card game mentioned. It can also work for the 200-299 page count.

message 3150: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments I put myself down for the chonky one, but feel free to bump if anyone finish one before I do.

I suppose I can grab character in sales too, as one of the characters in Norwegian Wood runs a bookshop with her sister?
