I am sure we can overlook this minor detail. 😊
Finished off the big cat, now got
Mr Salzella

2 features a theatre or Opera performance
3 Word SALT in the text
4 features ghosts
5 mask on cover or features a character wearing a mask

Are we OK with that? Or is it too indirect?

Then better put it there, Sammy. :)

With headphones, depending on the book (some are faster than others) it can be almost double that! The discrepencies are sometimes pretty huge between books though. I recently listened to one that was so slow I actually put the speed up to max, and just finished another I couldn't go over 2.4x with. Most can handle 2.8 or 2.9 for me though.

The last book I did that for was Daughter of the Forest, I set the narration at 2.3 and still thought it would never end, but that book was torture for me anyway.
This book isn't too bad, but I am not mad about it either. Cozy mysteries are just not my thing. Here its helps that there is a ghost and the murder was committed in the 1920s. I will finish, but won't be going on with the series for sure .... no mention of any U-characters ... 😅

The Summoning Dark instead:
1. 651+
2. a character is guarding something/someone
3. letters DWARF in title
4. person in story has "marked" skin (birthmark, tattoo, scars, etc)
5. Edition read has a dark cover

Oh, I knew we could count on you with the page count, Sammy. 😊

Count Magpyr & Family
1 200-299
2 Story features vampires
3 modernisation a plot element (your interpretation. could be house refurb or new computer system)
4 monochrome cover (e.g. Black and white, but other two colour only covers work)
5 bird on cover

The Queen of the Elves is vanquished!
Wintersmith has come.
350-450
Season in the title
character lives in a palace
someone is under a spell
all letters in SMITH found in the title

Once I've finished the 2 I have on the go, I can read The Innocent Sleep that works for 350-450 and under a spell. I'd also say that October is living in a palace during it.

just finished a book where a character had magic tattoos, but needed it to finish another monster, naturally.

I've also almost done with the bookbinder.
After that, I have a LOT of 100-200 page books coming up!

After Joy Nash, she must be the 2nd most irritating narrator I've come across. She uses a totally unnatural sounding, squeaky, high-pitched, breathy, saccharine voice and sounds like she's speaking through her nose. Absolutely awful!
But I have only 1 hour left, so I won't give up now.
oh no! a bad narrator is THE WORST!
what's she like on normal speed? sometimes the speeding up makes a bad experience horrible. ending on a slow speed with less hate for the narrator might be good?

I once listened to the same book twice with two different narrators. The first one was a Librivox recording (and part of the reason I gave up on that site), and then I listened again with a professional narrator.
The book went from 1 to 4 stars. I couldn't believe how much of the hate was down to the way it was read!

I've got a few other good ones coming up... Colin Firth, Zara Ramm,
Miriam Margolyes, Ray Porter, Gabriel Byrne and a couple more RA.

Yay!
I'd missed the new Peter Grant coming out - that's definitely a good one for audio.
I'm enjoying the clipped upper class English accent used by the narrator for Memento Mori.

I've got there eventually and defeated the Hoop Snake.

I found this in the audible(com) plus catalogue yesterday: Upland Autumn: Birds, Dogs, and Shotgun Shells.
Not that I'm in favour of hunting, au contraire, but don't look a gift U-book in the mouth ....
Wheel challenge... Now that's a novel idea. I don't know why you'd think you'd need a lot of U options for it.
I've found an MM series on KU which has a U in the series title. Think there's another 4 of them I can read so currently not searching too hard.

I, for one, am utterly discombobulated at Mel's unaccountably outrageous communique that stretch vowels are upcoming! Inconceivable!

I need to consult a psychotherapist, obviously. 😅 This U-fixation is rather disconcerting.
I'm not sure that you need a psychotherapist. It sounds instead like some chipmunks might be heading your direction. Please let them know of any ideas and wild thoughts as we find these to be very enlightening.
