same, Mel, same!

message 2452: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments My reading has slowed down considerably besides me needing a bit of a challenge-break (present challenge not included) with going back to work and Domi's ongoing school preps, but I'll be done with my "islam" book in a day or 2.

Melindam | 8375 comments And here we go, let me present our first DW Monster:

Jonathan Teatime

1. 500 to 650
2. Teeth on cover
3. story is set around Christmas time
4. has a word in the title that is not prounounced phonetically (e.g. silent letters)
5. MC in his 20s

message 2462: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Cat,

could you add the DW wheel link to your 1st post, when you have the time? Thank you. :)

message 2463: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments OK, so phonetics is not my strong point (I actually hated it when I had to study it for linguistics!), for "word in the title that is not prounounced phonetically" does the word "Maestro" work for this?

erm... I think it's marginal.

Knives and Gnomes and the like would be a clearer fit.

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments Woohoo!

Aaaand the book I just finished doesn't work for any of it 😆

message 2468: by Sammy (new)

message 2471: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments Works for me. The G is silent.

Melindam | 8375 comments Yayy!

message 2474: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments I just finished a book with fire on the cover. Want me to slot it in there to finish the mares Mel, or are you on it?

message 2475: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Oh, please do, Sammy! I haven't even started on that one yet. :)

message 2476: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments Ok, will do!

message 2479: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Yaay!

message 2480: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments I'm taking the Xmas time book instead, have a shortie for that task.

message 2481: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments Nice!

message 2482: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments I need to check my non-fic audiobook I just finished on Amazon. It may have bath in text and possibly refers to existing authors. It certainly mentiones Leonard Bernstein who wrote at least 1 book that I know of (The Joy of Music).

message 2483: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments I found a reference to an existing book, but no "bath" in text. Everything else is covered. :)

message 2484: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments Awesome!

the book I just finished had a bath! 😁

Argh the bad spin mojo has passed my way now!

Reacher Gilt

500 to 650
Author's initials in COCKATOO
EMBEZZLE in text
money or coins on cover
plot features some kind of bet/betting

message 2487: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments I have loads of 500 pagers coming up! 😉

message 2488: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5692 comments Mod
Yay Sammy!

I've got Chris Carter's The Night Stalker on hold from the library, so if no-one else gets to that, then I can cover the initials in cockatoo.

Melindam | 8375 comments I have found this on my TBR The Thief (The Queen's Thief, #1) by Megan Whalen Turner for coin on cover, but I may be some time reading it, so the usual, first come-first served rule applies. Just kick it out if you come across sth that may work. 😊

And my Henry V: The Astonishing Rise of England's Greatest Warrior King has "embezzle" in text. I will be reading that one next. There is a mention of betting, so I will claim that as well. 😊

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments Mr Te-ah-tim-eh has slunk off into the shadows...

Queen of the Elves

1 200-299
2 Author's initials in MORRIS DANCING
3 UNICORN mentioned in text
4 silver text on cover
5 set in a country with a monarchy

message 2493: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10123 comments Mod
I'm reading The Curator (Washington Poe, #3) by M.W. Craven (completion tomorrow)
author is M W Craven. we taking first & last as ok?

it's set in UK, so works for monarchy, but is too long and lacks both silver and unicorns.

message 2494: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments I'd say yes to first and last.

message 2495: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Yes from me too :)

message 2496: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments I think my current book Cast a Diva has silver necklace on cover, but I'm on the app, need to double-check when I'm in front of my laptop.

message 2497: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments It's silver coloured, so I think it works.

message 2498: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Just realised it needs to be text... aargh

Devour (Unbreakable Bonds #4) by Jocelynn Drake
I'm half way through this which has silver text. Also hits the word count. Will do a text search for unicorn later, but I doubt it.
