I'm enjoying the translation so far!
Why, in all the retellings, was there no mention of Hera tricking Zeus into sex to distract him from the soap-opera war-watching?! I was not expecting a nookie interlude at that point!

true! but we were in the midst of Trojan's slaughtering the Greeks whilst Achilles' was sullking, and suddenly Hera's all "I'm gonna hafta distract the Big Man from all this blood shed..... hmmmm.... only option is to love-drug him and then he'll be all ready for some nookie, distract him and let the Greeks retreat"

I am currently reading Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors by Sonali Dev (which BTW is a perfectly OK story in itself, but a very weak P&P "retelling", so apart from the obvious JA-bandwagon-marketing I don't really see why it needed to masquerade as one).
It's my first book by her, but checked her publication dates and her previous book before was published in 2017. Otherwise she seems to be a 1 book/year author.
2 doesn't feel long, but it did make me check: we could use Time's Convert - 4 years between #3 and it's publication. plus 8 years since I read #3 and this one.
that good? (unlike the book!)

Dang.
Okay, nobody is allowed to say my mind is evil after this.
Also, we are all in agreement next monster needs to be a Vegi-Might one, right? right?
Because who would resist the urge to fight the scary gingerbread man?!

Noooo, not the grumdrop buttons!

I added the names of Vegi-Might Monsters to the tabs "Sheet 3" + Monsters List (I added them to the end and then just did the "sort from A to Z thing). Hope I did not make a mess.

You are aware of who we have as mods now and in the past? You'd fit right in!

Some little voice in the back of my mind is telling me I'd probably should feel offended by this.

1. 200 to 299
2. Number in title or series (not series number)
3. Book where labor conditions or workers rights is central to the plot
4. Tagged Asia (at least 10 times) or a country in Asia
5. Yellow and/or green cover (>50% combined)

Although, the sentient killer trees from the last inkeeper would make a nice monster.

I wouldn't be given that Cat and I are also covered by this

Ooof ok... Anyone got the colour from UNO at least?

Other than that, I'll have a scan through my TBR tomorrow to see if I have anything promising, but not holding my breath.

The only books I can think of are North and South by Gaskell and Shirley by Charlotte B or maybe The Goblet of Fire where Hermione wants to liberate the house elves. Can't say I feel a crazy desire to reread any of them. 🤭

Can claim it, but I won't finish it in a hurry.
Found these lists on GR, btw, in case we get this monster again. 😊

If you really don't get on with it, one of the books on those lists is on my tbr.
I had also thought that the Discworld industrial series might come in helpful.

Great idea about the Discworld, Sophie. :)
If it's a book you wouldn't mind reading, I'll happily pass this on to you (my book can be a back-up option). 🥰
Also I think I'm learning! Got 5% into a book and hated it, so actually gave up. The acknowledgement that life it too short for a rubbish book has stuck for this particular case.

🥳👏

Edward Rochester (Jane Eyre)
1 200 to 299
2 MC gets gaslighted
3 MC is a teaching profession
4 fire important to plot
5 purple cover
I do have a purple lined up, but won't be until after UNO, so if anyone has anything sooner, have at it! 😁

Well done! I've done that a few times, but not so much since I started reading for challenges 😆
