Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I have nothing. I've been sucked into Michele Notaro's world, and I doubt I'll be leaving it before there's nothing more to read. (Only 3 books left in that universe, so I might get depressed after it)

But, if you need a book where a character is seriously hurt, or tortured/abused/hunted/killed/etc, I'm there for you.

Seriously. Does she hate her characters that much? Jeez. My heart hurts, and I've been crying every single book since book #2 on the Elwood chronicles. Well... not the new kids one. That one was cute.

I guess now I don't have any excuses for not reading The Magi accounts. Although in there the evil beings are the humans, not the monsters. Hence them being so hard to read.

Melindam | 8375 comments No worries, and they sound like they would fit lots of uno mini tasks. :)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Well, last mini their titles were a blast.

[EDIT]: Funny you think I have the self control to wait 3 days for the UNO mini... LOL

3 days to wait to finish anything isn't going to work!

Looks like a good mix of tasks though

Melindam | 8375 comments And, some really happy news for this morning as this lay heavily on all our minds in the last weeks, the official biopsy results after my mum's operation came in and they are negative!!

So relieved.

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments Fantastic news Mel! So glad to hear that. Must be an enormous relief. *hugs*

message 1661: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Hugs to You All, too.

I'll need some time to fully grasp it, but I am getting there.

❤️❤️❤️

message 1662: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Domi asked me to let you know that he'll be finishing his book in 2 or 3 days and then he can spin for a new monster (he's very excited about that part ;) .

message 1663: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Awwww, I bet he is. :)

message 1664: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments It's the best part! 😁

message 1665: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I finally started my "deep" book. I need a break from the Ellwoods :o)

message 1666: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments Awesome :)

None of my current books are of any use. Between UNO and the egg hunt I'm doing at Hooked on Books, I don't have a lot of wiggle room left when choosing books right now, lol.

message 1667: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I also am 40% in an anthology that's 680+ pages.... but it might take me a while, so I won't claim that task until I'm at the last short story :D

message 1668: by Dominomaj (new)

Dominomaj | 42 comments Hello, I finished my book.

I will spin the wheel. 😀

message 1669: by Dominomaj (new)

Dominomaj | 42 comments JABBERWOCK

1. 175-225
2. SLITHY or TOVES in author name (any order)
3. Word with 10 or more letters in title
4. """gyre"" in text"
5. book contains made up words/ terminology (not another language)

message 1670: by Dominomaj (new)

Dominomaj | 42 comments I can take tasks 1 & 3. I am reading Kiki, a boszorkányfutár

message 1671: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments Thanks Domi! You got us a fun one.

message 1672: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Well... you can put it like that. :D

message 1673: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments I wonder if we are allowed to use the Hungarian translation of gyre, b/c I am sure it turns up in Kiki. (giggles)

message 1674: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments I can't see why not? 😁

message 1675: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments I can read Wish Upon A Star for task 2, but I probably won't get to it for a week or so

message 1676: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments "Sammies" works as made up terminology/word in Discworld, right?

😍🤭

message 1681: by Melindam (last edited Apr 19, 2024 02:28AM) (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Harpies have been chased away, we have AUTONS in their stead

1. 200 to 299
2. "mannequin" in text
3. New book after a long break from the author (your interpretation)
4. Title starts with a letter in ECCLESTON claimed by Sammy
5. Series number has a 2 in it (2, 12, 1.2 etc)

-------------------------

also, unclaimed tasks (no push, just for an overview)

- 651+ pages
- Black cover
- takes place in New York City
- SLITHY or TOVES in author name (any order) claimed by Sammy

message 1682: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Meh, I just spend 10 minutes trying to decide in which mini tasks to put my just finished book - it fitted a bunch, so now I'm stuck into just one here... I'll add it to the page count, since it's just 212 pages.

message 1683: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments If it hadn't been the only book in my tbr that fit the SLITHY or TOVES task, I'd have DNFed the book I was reading for that.

I really need to stop believing Audible reviews when grabbing books from there. They lie ALL THE TIME. *sigh*

message 1684: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Sorry to hear it Sammy.

message 1685: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments If it is the book you described in the Jareth thread, it sounds atrocious.

message 1686: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments Yep. And then the exact same thing happens to the MC with her ex. *eyeroll*

Boooo. But thanks for taking it for the team!

I'm reading a 651+ book , the Emily Wilson translation of the Iliad

message 1691: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13023 comments Nice! Lemme know if it's a good one. I'm not as much of a fan of that one as I am of the Odyssey, but I've often wondered if that might in part have been down to a rubbish translation.

I've got set in New York covered with In Five Years which has not been what I expected, but in a positive way.

Melindam | 8375 comments I was just perusing my Audible.com Wishlist and saw that Children of Ash and Elm: A History of the Vikings and A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking are currently included in the Audible Plus catalogue, so they are happily added to my Library.

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I wasn't in the mood for cozy mystery, specially with meddling elders... but meh, it is done. And it also works for UNO. So.....

!!!!!Balrog was slayed!!!!

But I'm at the client today and cannot spin the wheel.

Can someone do it for me, pretty please?
