WE have a Dr Who monster:
JUDOON
1. 100 to 175
2. MC is in law enforcement or equivalent
3. Stars on cover
4. "hospital" in text
5. First book in a series

If it defeats us - I can grab a Murderbot novella. 😉

Also, is that a star?
*angel face*
Curious enough as I was updating my challenge ss today, I was thinking in the lines that those books were perfect for small count tasks, and we had none at the moment
I'm currently reading The 13th Witch that covers law enforcement, 1st in series and hospital in text so we could keep Poirot for another task.

O’Brian (1984)
1 200 to 299
2 MPG Classics
3 MC follows orders
4 Technology plays an important role in the plot
5 Rodent on cover (not a rabbit)
My sincerest apologies for the rodent! I shall go hunt for one shortly!

dogs
cats
sheep
more birds
whales
snakes
rabbits
hedgehogs
yet more birds
horses
more whales
SO MANY BIRDS
fish
starfish
where the heck are all these whales coming from?
bats
birds. really?
tigers
spiders
murderbot
butterflies
dragonflies
more sheep
someone find me a rifle so I can deal with this bird problem
bears
...

I highly recommend them! not least for the white rats on the covers :)

Which book of theirs would U suggest for starters?
I prefer their Paladin books to the horror ones, so I'd start there. They are a series, best started with #1 Paladin's Grace. They are set in the same world as Swordheart (wherein a sword speaks) and the Clocktaur Wars (a duology), but there's no direct link, belong worldbuilding between the three sets.
A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking is all sorts of fun (we did it as a BOM), and Minor Mage has an unusual familiar (armadillo) - these two are childrens
If you like Poe, then What Moves the Dead is an interesting take on The Fall of the House of Usher.

I do have a fish in a glass of water with handcuffs on the side, if we need one of those, lemme know

I will check the others out, but Defensive Baking sounds right up my alley. :)

That oughta be fun

If I'm not blaming Jenny, I'm probably blaming Sammy!
ok ok, often it's self-inflicted harm too!

On that note, The Last Continent has finally arrived from my library so will be starting that after finishing another black text on cover book.

(might even squeeze it in in between, because I love the narrator, and not as keen on the next-up one, lol)

David McCall (Fear)
1 350 to 450
2 MC high school age (14 to 18)
3 character goes to amusement park
4 character is stalked
5 one word title

2 more converts. 😁

Last Friday I recommended Murderbot to a former Polish colleague of mine. She hadn't heard of It before.
She's currently listening to Book 5 ... 🤭

Those are the 2 blue covers for our March UNO hands. :)

Good to know, thank you. :)
