Melindam | 8388 comments Already contemplating buying the next one with my leftover Jan credit and I haven't even finished book 1. :))

Melindam | 8388 comments For tagged "FF", I presume we can accept "F-F" as well, or?? :)

If not, it can be used for the "heroine" tag (6 times).

Found the "ff" tag as well, 45x. :)

message 1103: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13036 comments teehee! Glad you're enjoying it. And I think the first book was one of the weakest so far! :D

message 1104: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13036 comments also, I have some immortals in my current book if we still need it. on my phone right now, but can add later

message 1105: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8388 comments Yaayy for immortals and the next books getting even better. ♡

message 1106: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8388 comments Currently unclaimed tasks:

- Reptile on cover (turtles, snakes, lizards, alligators and crocodiles)
- Features a detective from before 1960's
- 250-300 pages
- tagged "heroine" (5 or more times)
- Red cover (>50%)
- 13 in publication date or page number

message 1107: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13036 comments The Immortal MC also works for the page count task, so bonus! 😁

I can cover both of these with Death on The Nile. Not going to be immediate thanks to the 750p chunkster currently on the go.

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13036 comments UGH! Just been through my entire TBR, and I have books with 12 in the page number, books with 14, and books with 31, but not a one with 13 in it. Inconsiderate publishers again!

Could do red cover, but don't wanna waste one in the middle of UNO 😂

Anyone have one of these coming up? https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/...

There are some I could do, but will probably be a couple of weeks.

no 2013 books? I'll have a look tomorrow

message 1112: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13036 comments You know, I never checked the year! (serves me right for doing 5 things at once, lol)

message 1113: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13036 comments I have one! and what's more, I was going to read it for UNO anyway 😁

message 1114: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10130 comments Mod
oh! I found one for heroine! literally just 5 tags (ignoring all the "badass heroine" variants)

message 1115: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13036 comments Nice!

Melindam | 8388 comments Does this pass as red?

A Girl of the Limberlost by Gene Stratton-Porter

Can't decide if it's reddish brown or brownish red. :)

message 1117: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10130 comments Mod
I think it's in the red section :)

message 1118: by Melindam (last edited Feb 06, 2024 02:26AM) (new)

Melindam | 8388 comments Thanks. :)

I will finish my other 2 books first, so if someone comes across a red cover sooner, then just delete mine. :)

message 1119: by Sonia (last edited Feb 06, 2024 07:05AM) (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I'm currently reading Cat's favourite colour. So no catch it up.

I am reading a 136 page book, if you want to skip the 13 thingie.

message 1120: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13036 comments I'm on the 13 too, but if you finish it sooner (likely, mine is 400+, lol), feel free to grab it. 😁

message 1121: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Okay. I'll let you go. I kinda had a *very* stressful morning because of stoopid iphone configurations and am really to sit in a corner crying. I guess stuff has been pilling up and I have been reading enough to ignore it and keep pushing, but it was the last straw.

So I'll probably need to either sleep through it or play on the PS for a bit before bed to manage it.

oh nooooooo! go do looking after yourself stuff!

message 1123: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13036 comments Oh that's not good! Go do something fun, and tell Eni to give you a big hug for me.

message 1124: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8388 comments Oh no, take care, Sonia!!

message 1125: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Cute picture.

Eni gave me lots of hugs. Plus chocolate. The non so little minion also gave me hugs. And the kitties asked for snuggles.

Sadly, nothing seems to do the trick. It doesn't help that I can't just take a break till 6. Plus tomorrow I'll be working on site. Not happy with the turn of events.

spun a new Literary monster:

Dementor
250-300
Faceless person on cover
"tors" (in order) in title or series name
"soul-sucking" in text
Book series contains a .5

message 1127: by Melindam (last edited Feb 07, 2024 01:16AM) (new)

Melindam | 8388 comments System Collapse (The Murderbot Diaries, #7) by Martha Wells

Does this qualify as "faceless"?

Or this?

Agent Zigzag The True Wartime Story of Eddie Chapman Lover, Traitor, Hero, Spy by Ben Macintyre

Thank you. That just passed me by! :)

message 1132: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8388 comments I have checked all my books and have absolutely nothing for "soul-sucking" or "tors" in title/series name. :(

message 1133: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5692 comments Mod
Sonia - I really hope you got a decent sleep last night and the world is seeming like a more manageable place today.

Will have a search for tors/soul sucking and see what if anything I've got.

message 1134: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10130 comments Mod
doctors / actors was the line I started down, but didn't commit to anything

message 1135: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13036 comments Nope on the 'tors', soul sucking is going to take a while to check all my books on amazon, lol.

found one "soul-sucking" in my kindle books - in Hana Khan Carries On by Uzma Jalaluddin which is very good, but I read recently, so not ready for a reread

ETA: might be worth asking other teams what they've used?

message 1137: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8388 comments Just realised that have 1 on my TBR which I nominated for the March BOM, but haven't purchased it yet and won't until my Feb Audible credits arrive.

I was going to look for Victors as well.

message 1140: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13036 comments So far I have soul eating and soul searching, but no sucking. Only 100 or so books left to check 😆

message 1141: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13036 comments Saturation of the soul, reconfiguration of the soul, soul destroying...
Even fracturing and guarding of souls.

Is a little sucking really too much to ask?

(Yeah, I know, that's what he said...)

message 1142: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8388 comments :D :D

message 1143: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13036 comments I could even find some good old-fashioned rending of souls.

I'm out. Probably an easier one for people who can search Kindles, lol.

My kindle has nothing! Going to ask in the main thread for options.

If there is going to be no rush for the page count task, I may claim it (and double consonant) with Niccolo Rising, but will finish my 2 other books first, so I'll leave them free for the time being.

Melindam | 8388 comments Unfortunately it's too short to be used for challenges, but apropos of our earlier discussions of cosy mysteries, I have bought and read Your Guide to Not Getting Murdered in a Quaint English Village.

Found it dark and really funny. :)
