Lucky you!

Do we get Cat to spin the wheel again soon?

message 52: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments It's probably the quickest way to get there 😂

Normally I'd probably land on the worst possible one too, but as I actually want this one now, it won't happen.

Melindam | 8375 comments I can imagine, Sophy about Niccoló. It took me 2 tries and reading the Ultimate Guide to finish The Game of Kings. And I thought I knew Scottish history quite well..... but Dunnett disabused me very quickly of that belief, lol.

But I cracked Book 2 fairly quickly and enjoyed it a lot.

I read Lymond about 20 years ago. When I eventually finish Niccoló, I think it'll be time to go back for a reread.

Mistletoe at Moonglow looks to me like it has red and blue on the cover so could count for the last 2 on Manmon Duck.

message 56: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments I can put it there :)

message 59: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments We have done away with Manman Duck, so we can spin for another monster. :)

Melindam | 8375 comments I spun the Greek wheel and got us a Griffin.

300 to 349
set in United States
red cover
"brave" or "courageous" in text
cross on cover

Additionally, I can cover the last 2 tasks for this one

Except no, I'd put it elsewhere.

Let me look to see if my next book has aliens, so I can shift about

No aliens, but picking up a short book set in America

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments hi Lexi!

message 65: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Done with Gideon, and my next book has wings on cover and jungle in text, so claiming those :)

Enjoy it? I know we found other funerals, but were there any?

message 67: by Sammy (last edited Aug 20, 2023 05:29AM) (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Not traditional ones like I'd imagine thinking of the task. could maybe have made it work, but happy we don't have to, lol.

I enjoyed the story, but not the characters. I suspect that's partly thanks to the narrator making them sound worse than they are. May try re-reading in paperback some time.

message 68: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments My Siege of Malta book is turning out to be a very nice surprise. I didn't expect too much of it, but it's totally captivating docu-drama especially as read by Simon Vance.

message 69: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Finished the Cigarette smoking man and spun for another human...

Joffrey (Game of Thrones)

500 to 650
MC is royalty
Title starts with a letter in CROWN
Gold item on cover
More than one death in the book

message 70: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments I'm grabbing royal MC with Innocent Traitor, and am guessing more than one person will die 😂

message 71: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Won't be finishing anything until Tuesday though 😉

message 72: by Melindam (last edited Aug 22, 2023 07:28AM) (new)

I need to work out what my next read is.

Likely to be slow as I'm camping with family for a couple of days

Melindam | 8375 comments Have a lovely time, Sophie.

message 75: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments I started Lymond #3, but I'll guess it'll take me some days to finish

I finished a book that fit the last two books in AHOOL, so spun the Greek wheel, hoping for Cerberus.

Sorry. got a snek :(

Python
1 100 to 175
2 features twins
3 Author name (first or last) starts with a letter in SWORD
4 character is pregnant
5 mentions some type of championship games (World Cup, Olympics, World Series, etc)

but happily, that meant I could slot Mel's English Air into a task :)

Goodie. 😊 It'll keep for a few days anyway (or for later, it can be removed again if necessary), as I will try to finish The Disorderly Knights first and that'll take a few days.

message 78: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments BTW, Audible just announced that Richard Armitage's new book can be pre-ordered.

Cat, pass on my best b'day wishes to him. ;)

message 79: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Woo! *off to audible*

message 81: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Um... I hope it's a typo, but audible tells me it won't be released for another year!

message 82: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Wow! The posted it today to FB

message 83: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments LOL, just checked it on audible US and indeed the release date is exactly one year from now on. But you CAN preorder. What a sham.

message 84: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments He's probably not even written it yet 😂

Sammy, what did you think of Fledgling?

message 88: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments I enjoyed it, but not as much as the other Butler books I've read. I also had a little trouble with the ick factor of the MC apparently looking like a pre-teen and getting up to all sorts of naughtiness.

Still, like everything else I've read by her, the ideas are solid :)

message 89: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10123 comments Mod
Agree! I did like the different take on vampires but there was definite ick!
I think I might like the Lilith's Brood / Xenogenesis series the best. I found the Parable books SUPER hard to read

message 90: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Not read parable, but really enjoyed Xenogenesis. Bloodchild and Other Stories was also a better-than-average collection of short stories.

I've read other books by her, but that was a decade or two ago, and I don't remember much of them.

message 91: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5692 comments Mod
I found the books of hers I've read hard going. But that might be because I've only read the parable ones.

message 92: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10123 comments Mod
The Parable ones are probably the toughest, yes!

Though as al of them touch on Big Topics like racism, slavery, autonomy, they are none of them pure fuzzy feels!

Finished the book for El Duende. Someone want to spin a new monster?

message 94: by Melindam (last edited Aug 23, 2023 05:25AM) (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments I can do that. 😊

Should it be an urban legend?

message 95: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Well, I got us a Drop Bear.

500 to 650
Read a book set in Australia
Read a book with a surprise twist (your interpretation)
Read a book with a carnivore on the cover (make sure it's not an omnivore!)
Read a book with author initials found in VEGEMITE.

nice :) the page count excepted, obvs!

message 97: by Sammy (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Cat wrote: "nice :) the page count excepted, obvs!"

I have a book for that page count, may also work for the surprise twist.

Also, if someone has a red cover, my book can be ejected from that spot. 😊

good camping fun though? tired kids because of all the fun or because they slept for 2 hrs a night?
