The book is a stand alone, which I read around the early 2000. The book centered around 2 main characters. A girl who is being married to a Immortal god king against her will and a unnamed man with a talking sword who is being hunted by the empire of the god king. The empire revolves around the service of born again gods who must consume a soul each day to continue living. The reborned gods can't remember their lives before their godhood. Never got to finish the book so can't say how it ends.
