Jessica Coates | 2 comments I read this book in a school library, late 90's,early 00's.

Young girl is orphaned in a car accident in Australia. Her doctors notice that she's talking in an ancient Scottish language. She wakes up and goes to live with family in Scotland and ends up being a social outcast at school. I *think*she finds someone has a book passed down through generations intended for her. She's been sent through time for her safety. She travels back in time through a stone circle to sort out the drama that she escaped by travelling through time in the first place. Young male friend ends up accidentally travelling with her but ends up in a different location.
It's hurting my brain trying to remember!!

Bernike Tellegen | 12 comments The book you're describing also sounds like "The Named" by Marianne Curley. It's the first book in the "Guardians of Time" series. The story follows a young girl named Isabel who experiences the events you mentioned, including being orphaned, traveling through time, and encountering the stone circle.
