Please help! I'm trying to find this book I read in 2003-2004.

The full plot is basically a new kid arrives in town and his family moves into a lighthouse. Hes odd and an outcast. A group of local kids somewhat befriend him and make him participate in a stupid challenge/dare that gets him hurt.

The group of kids decide to own up and apologize so they go to his house and when they get there they realize that he started a fire and the lighthouse is on fire. Not sure if the kid survives the fire.

The main character was the "leader" of the group of kids and I'm pretty sure it was in his perspective.
