Two kids, just around early teens, I think one girl and I know the other was a boy (I believe he mentioned he likes parkour) and their older aunt or grandma gets a letter and find out one of her relative has died and gets summons to his mansion where they found a group of people all waiting on getting the inheritance. But to get it there are some challenges they need to win in order to get the inheritance. It ends with the kids sneaking around and finding out the dude faked his death and only wanted to know who would be worthy of his inheritance. I only read this one book but I think it’s a series and I read it around 2008-11. I read it in Swedish but given the name of the places and people (that I can’t remember now) it was originally in English and the book cover was dark red and I think a book and maybe a bird on it.

Sorry but no, that’s not it. The kids knew each other before the letter about the dudes death came. But it’s similar, playing the characters is what the dude likes to do and I think letters shows up sometimes too.
