Well it's National Dog Day so I tried seeing how many times my dog, Remy, would retreive a ball for me in a row. It was 18. That's your number, and so you are off the board!! Or you can save it for future use.

AWW I like that. I'm not sure my Maggie ever kept with it so long.

Thanks. I'll get my new board together tonight.

ADDED -
I just saw the previous special advantage that I didn't use yet. Adding together my 6th and 8th books. I should probably use that first. I'll update my tracking logs and make a new summary too.

Remy loves loves ball. But he is a little chunky so eventually needs a rest.

Joy D | 10073 comments I was at the Giants-Braves game. The Giants (my team) lost 7 to 3 but the good news for me is that it will equal 10 spaces. Thanks, Anita!

Well Ursula didn't let me land on Shinkansan #15, nor give me any special advantage. But she did roll me as far as she could. Book is set in Paris and written by an author I have read and enjoyed before.

ETA: 🤬! Ursula saddled me with a 6+5 slow down! I have to also read a book from someone's board! Not that I mind as you all have great boards (though I am not even looking at Sue's current board filled with Cunksters), but at this rate I will never graduate from Porter!

Sneaky Ursula!

message 312: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15510 comments @Anita and JoAnne - for my 6+5 special roll, I will read from AJ's Clerk board - #76 - The Guest List. I already own it, it fits a Popsugar Prompt, and I passed it on my board.

Noting in my tracking.

I actually stole this one from a Fantasy friend

message 314: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12913 comments I just checked and double checked. I’m pretty sure I get an extra swap, for a 2-3. That puts me back up at three swaps. Had two, earned one extra, used one, back to two, and this one would make three.

message 315: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12913 comments I’m sort of thinking I should use it now. Is there any chance that I can use soul of a woman, which I just finished, but did not read until after the last book was complete? I just didn’t think of it at the time, potentially using the swap. But I knew I was reading a book now that was gonna be on my subdue list for later. But I knew I needed to read it now because it’s satisfied a challenge from my personal home library. As a book written from an international author and translator. I figured that would cost me trouble later, but is it OK to use it as this subdue advantage? If the answer is yes, then I will take my review and post it, and then ask for another roll. Using one of the originally given swaps. And then I would be down to two. If that wouldn’t be permitted, then I think I might use the swap anyway, and I was saying that right here, and pick something else other than what I landed on. Either way I remain at spot 32, with two swaps left. I need a please advise at your convenience with no rush, what you would like me to do. Whether or not, I can post my review for soul of a woman, and ask for another role, or whether I should swap this current book with something else entirely.

message 316: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12568 comments I am going to let Anita make that call Amy, my thought is no, you cannot use a book you already read.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11062 comments My new board - Conductor 2 - is posted and I'm ready for my next roll please (1).

message 318: by Amy (new)

Amy | 12913 comments You know what? Joanne is right. I'm not even going to wait for Anita. What Joanne says feels intuitive and fair. It makes sense to me that you have to announce your swap before you do it.. I Should have thought about it, but it cannot be after the fact no matter how convienient. And I made peace a long time ago that I will never finish my porter board. I am proud enough that I finished the Clerk level. There is no race and no rush here. Thank you for helping me see that.

I am therefore going to use one of my three swaps and swap out Stronger than BPD for the Invisible Hour by Alice Hoffman. Its much later on my Porter Board because I knew it would not be published and available until August. Its not just available, its in my hot little hands. And its Literary Fiction. This makes sense to me. And.... if Stronger than BPD ever shows up at the library, I will read it, so its off my TBR. Double Win.

Sue | 2713 comments I'm swapping out my current book for a longer book.

I'll note on my board later in the week. I'm trying to post from my work computer and there are so many restrictions. I'm not able to post links - even to books here on GR.

For the record, I'll reading Edge of Eternity from Ken Follett instead of The Poppy War from R.F. Kuang.

I know a ton of people enjoyed The Poppy War, but I just don't have patience for YA right now.

Cool - we haven't seen that special roll option in play in a while. It was the first I ever received -- ended up sticking with the book I landed on but it is a neat option to have.

I have had it a couple times recently. I noted on my Board but did not post about it.

Amy | 12913 comments Mmm Yum. I can smell them from here in a Glazed Bytes shop where I am reading Hotel Cuba to jazz music and am enjoying a decaf hazelnut latte with oatmilk. I’m not even sure which train car I am in. At 5:30 to I know I’m past the baggage….. maybe second class? Anyway, they have small sugary, waffles, here, combined with the lattes this is quite the delicious treat. Must get through a few chapters before I go home.

Amy, it is great to see you made it into the second class lounge. I just arrived as well and here is what Theresa said The Firefighters are beyond thrilled to see you. BnB! They'll be showing off -- er -mixing some splendid cocktails for you -- a giant bottle of Grey Goose Vodka was just delivered from an anonymous source - I suspect my Sunday in the Park with Cosmopolitans buddy -- a tradition we started during pandemic and are continuing. I gave my cosmopolitans recipe to the boys and made sure they were well stocked with fresh citrus, triple sec, and pure cranberry juice! I sampled the fudge from the giant box sitting on the bar - yum"

Oh, cosmopolitans and fudge? Yum. Now I want to drive out to the amusement park for fudge and then go to a bar. What is wrong with me today with the cravings for things at specific places? (Maybe I just need to get out of the house.)
