message 206: by Joy D (new)

Joy D | 10073 comments Anita & JoAnne, In conjunction with this roll I am using a special advantage earned by #tags to move forward 1 space, which takes me to space 12 on loop 5. I will note it on my Board.

Amy | 12913 comments I got my Saturday night dancing shoes on! Theresa, you are to be celebrated with a special drink in your honor. A tiara has been called from the Royal Coach. All of your favorite dishes have been prepared and a special cake. Yes, we spoke to the Katav boys who have put on a Parisian themed evening. With all of your favorite French dishes and decor. We will dance the night away. Of course, they may be those of us who are less into the party scene, but they are sipping their cocktails and are quietly reading their books. Even gnarly took a bath in your honor, and he’s purring proudly. I do see that there is a gift box with various Barnes & Noble gift cards inside. Please know our dear queen of the train, how much we treasure you and celebrate you every day. Happy birthday dear friend. May you enjoy another wonderful year around the sun, and with all of us always with you!

I am so sorry Joanne. I'll do some now so you aren't waiting all day, and I'll add to it later.

Pam, you've been shook! Please move back 6 after you complete your current read.

Sorry, Pam!!

Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments KateNZ wrote: "Hi Anita - that roll gives me a special 6-4 when you have a moment (no rush - the next book will take me an age!)"

Your special advantage is a one time unique swap. If you land on a book you want to swap, you can switch it out for a book of any length, any type. So you can read a children's book or a picture book or a comic book or a book less than 150 pages. You still need to review it though! This may be held to use at your discretion.

message 216: by Joy D (new)

Joy D | 10073 comments My last 2 rolls were 4,3. I am going to read the book ahead of where I landed based on the rule related to rolling a total of seven. I will note this on my Board.

message 217: by KateNZ (new)

KateNZ | 4099 comments Thanks Anita - useful and fun!

message 218: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12568 comments Thanks Anita! Was hoping for a better book this time around. It looks like the roll of 4 did it-The Black Tides of Heaven, which a gang here all gave 4 and 5 stars! I am excited.

To a few spots ahead (being only author I recognised in the vicinity 🫣😆)
100. Alcatraz versus the Scrivener's Bones / Brandon Sanderson"

Oh, I missed seeing this!

Of course, this is one I accidentally read earlier this year, forgetting it was on my list, so I'm going to have to back up one and read that one (of course, I was then hoping not to land on it!).

(And I know, there weren't many left to choose from!)

So, looking it up now in case anyone is interested to know what I'll be reading instead:
All Things Slip Away / Katherine Meyer Griffith

message 220: by LibraryCin (new)

LibraryCin | 11669 comments So, can I confirm the new order of what I'm reading.

I haven't yet gotten to my next one via a roll:
94. John Hughes: A Life in Film / Kirk Honeycutt (Aug 13 roll: 2-1)

Then, Tien moved me to 100:
100. Alcatraz versus the Scrivener's Bones / Brandon Sanderson (Moved to by Tien’s 1-3 roll. Already read. Back up to 99)

So, I'll read:
99. All Things Slip Away / Katherine Meyer Griffith

So, to confirm, next up I will read my own roll at 94, then I'll read 99 (in place of 100). Then I ask for my next roll (and with 2 dice that will roll me off the board.).

Is that correct? Thanks!

And it is short so easy to finish if doen't suit. That was a Feminerdy Book Club pick along with The Red Threads of Fortune which are first 2 in series. I missed that discussion at Feminerdy so read later on my own. I actually have The Red Threads of Fortune on my Subdue Board, and Feminerdy talking about reading the llast 2 in the series. Gender choice and issues are core and in fact author now goes by Neon Yang and 'they' not Y.S. Yang. Gender choice and roles are key themes.

Artwork on the covers of their books are some of the most beautiful to be found. I have these in ebook but often consider buying in print for covers alone.

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12568 comments FYI Somewhere a long the way, the last week, I must have missed a day of rolls-so sorry! I re-checked everyone's board so you all should be in the correct train car/seat now-drinks are on me, for the mistake, Tom should be by shortly-

If I still have you in the wrong seat-Make it a double and let me know whre you should be!

Theresa | 15510 comments Oh, lordy, I am WIPED OUT! That was one wild fun party!

My favorite part I think was when JoAnne, inspired by the Fred Astaire Marathon, decided to use the Subdue Big Board as a stand in for the hat rack in Royal Wedding.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=faN0kPO...

Might want to double check your boards and positions!

Amy - your dancin' shoes were smokin'! But when you and Tessa decided we needed some torch songs and you convinced the Cabanna Boys to turn down the lights and shade them blue ... well!

Can someone please explain where that Disco Ball came from, and who installed and paid for it?!

Joanne, the last roll moved me to #47, but I used a bonus to move 5 more spaces forward, so I'm on #52 now.

Amy | 12913 comments Theresa, I just saw The Amazing video, you posted! I haven’t seen that number in an age and that was so delightful! Thank you for that lift this morning. Now I have to get my head back and demon copperhead. I have a 10 o’clock cancel and that is how I’m using it. To go find a bagel, to call a person to help me with my on boarding at Northeastern, and he was all of the rest of the time for demon land.

What a great party! I was the one in the mask- dancing in the corner with a box of tissues and a blanket. I didn’t want anyone to catch my cold, but it was fun to watch. 😙 😉🤗😳🤭🫠

Beware though, if anyone finds my pictures, a few of you might get some blackmail demands.

I haven't heard of GR problems, sorry that happened. Thanks!

message 243: by LibraryCin (new)

LibraryCin | 11669 comments Just a note that I will be doing the rolling for the rest of this week, so please help me out by letting me know how many dice you need rolled when you make your request.

As usual, I may be a bit later than Anita usually is, especially Friday when I work in person. At least the other days should be a bit earlier (as long as I don't forget!) as I work from home.

message 245: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (joabroda1) | 12568 comments FYI With Cindy taking over for Anita the rest of the week, The Masterboard here will probably not be updated until Anita returns. I will still keep it current in the backgound so that when she returns it will be up to date.

message 247: by LibraryCin (new)

LibraryCin | 11669 comments And it's done! (I know I come to summarize, then roll right away. Pitfalls of having to work full time: I can't always come in early for the summary!)

So:
