Chapter 6

(view spoiler)[Edmund was so mean, lying about Narnia, after letting Lucy believe he was going to tell Peter and Susan the truth. I liked how the professor talked with them about it and made the argument that someone that is almost always honest is probably the one still telling the truth. (hide spoiler)]

Final Thoughts
(view spoiler)[ I liked the moral of the story. I think it's a great story, even as a fantasy if you aren't looking for a Christian themed book. It was good as an adult and it's also a book I would read to my kids, which I don't find often. Mr. Tumnus was my favorite character probably, but I liked Lucy as well. Even though I know that Edmund was sorry, I would still have trouble trusting him. (hide spoiler)]

Starting the The Magician Nephew now. I read the Lion witch and the Wardrobe yesterday but i will comment on that book after the Magicians Nephew.

Chapter 2 (view spoiler)[ Uncle Andrew is a rather sly person fancy tricking your own nephew like that. Andrew is such a coward I have taken an instant dislike to him (hide spoiler)]

Aslan: (view spoiler)[The way he was described and the reactions to the land and creatures as he made his way across the land was beautifully done. I could see the reason a lot of reviews refer to it as religious. (hide spoiler)]

1/4 of The Magician's Nephew: (view spoiler)[So excited to begin this. I have never read them before, yet I feel nostalgic just holding them as I have owned these books since I was a child.

In adult fiction you rarely get a wholly bad character, same as you rarely get a wholly good character, for the main reason that they don't resonate as true. It is actually really refreshing to see such a stereotypical figure of the villain being cast in Uncle Andrew.

Little bit of a plot hole concerning the magic of the rings. Surely if you just have to touch them to move worlds, you wouldn't have a chance to put them on your finger before the magic worked? (hide spoiler)]

2/4 of The Magician's Nephew: (view spoiler)[The magic of this lies in the wonderful narration of the story. Lewis has added such a conversation lilt to the tone of voice, as though this is being spoken aloud as a bedtime story rather than being read of a page. I love how the narrator distances himself from the story, in some parts, by exclaiming 'we'll skip this bit' etc. (hide spoiler)]

I can see why Harper Collins altered this to become the first book in the series after reading of the creation of Narnia. Reading about the creation of the world I know so well from The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe movie adaptation is captivating! (hide spoiler)]

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe I'm finding this very hard to review as I loved the movie and the book is a bit of a let down in comparison. Which is very unusual as I normally enjoy the books better.

Religious content (view spoiler)[ Wow I had not picked up the amount of religious references this book had when watching the movie. Sorry I keep referring back to the movie. Aslan = Jesus. The White Witch is Satan and Edmund as Judas. These were the most obvious ones did anyone pick up on any others? (hide spoiler)]

Over all I enjoyed this book, had I read it as a child I would have loved it. The sexism rankles with me as an adult female though. Putting that aside this was a beautiful children book lots of mystery and adventure. The talking animals were a delight. The children brave and almost fearless. I love finding books like this that are so innocent and suitable for children.

4/4 of The Magician's Nephew: (view spoiler)[This is such a short read and yet I feel like I have been in this world for some time. Lewis manages a good amount of world-building whilst still appealing to children and keeping the length down.

His writing style is utterly exceptional. I lost myself in this story and am so glad I have six more installments to come in this worls! (hide spoiler)]

The Horse and His Boy
This one was my favourite so far. Shasta(view spoiler)[ Shasta is on the run with a talking horse called Bree. I found Shasta to be a very likeable character, really quiet brave as it turns out when he runs back to help Aravis. I'm so glad that Arsheesh turns out to not be his real father. (hide spoiler)]
