Duong Trang | 179 comments Hi, it seems like there is some problem (for me) in adding books. I'm a newbie, so it takes a little long(er) for me to add a new book/edition or just to operate through the Goodreads community and system in general. I have recently tried to add two new books per requests, and each time there are already existed books (I do check both the name of the books and of the author before adding them). Is there any tips to avoid this problem?

Scott | 9446 comments Goodreads is very broken right now and is marking valid books as "deleted."
When you get that message in red that the book already exists, click on the link it shows, then set the book back to public.

Because this problem is so rampant, with no sign that they will do anything about it, you can save time by only entering the ISBN or ASIN when adding the book. It will tell you whether or not the book is already in the system, and if it isn't, you can just fill in the rest of the info as it won't save it without a title or author.

Search for the isbn. If the book is already on GR with a public status, searching for the isbn is the best way to find it.
