Should I use the "flag"?

I've encountered books whose title was entered correctly but afterwards incorrectly changed by a librarian.
I've fixed the issue.
Should I flag the wrong librarian edit or forget the issue?

Up to you. If you have reason to believe a librarian has made multiple such edits, flagging is a good idea.

If you're not sure, it's always fine to flag and let staff make the decision of whether anything needs to be done.

Is there a point in flagging edits that have been done years ago, in this case 2012?

I came across a librarian who deleted most of the (valid) info on numerous books back in 2012. I'm working my way through the librarian edits, reverting what I'm sure of. I have flagged two of the most blatant examples.

Nowadays this librarian doesn't do much editing anymore, and their edits look normal now. Should I still flag those old edits, or should I stick to the ones I already flagged?

could it have been that what was changed then was actually correct because of policies that were in place at the time

I can't imagine what kind of policies that would have been. One of the changes that I flagged included deleting the format, page count, and publisher, uploading an image from another publisher, and substituting the author name with the title.

It's up to you, if I find someone who did inappropriate changes years ago but recent edits look ok, I keep them on my watch list, if nothing else against policy happens I check occasionally. If more inappropriate edits occur I flag them

The odd thing is, I'm noticing now, is that all these wrong edits took place on one day, in fairly rapid succession of each other. I haven't looked at all edits before that date, but it looks as if they are OK. Could it have been a glitch in the system?

there were things that took place when the amazon partnership happened... i don't recall specifics, but i remember the librarians working very hard in a short period of time to adjust things to adhere to the new policies. i don't even remember when that acquisition date was, now. but your questions made me think of that time, lethe.


edited to add: end of march, early april 2013 the purchase of goodreads by amazon was being reported in the media. so later than the 2012 issues you are noting. sorry to be unhelpful. i just thought there might be some weird reason from that time, similar to the weirdness that the librarians had to deal with post-purchase.

Wouldn't surprise me...

If you're concerned you could try checking some other librarian logs from the same time frame and see if there were some weird edits there too.

But prior to the purchase there was us not being able to use Amazon at all - 2012 maybe...

Late January 2012 would have been when users (especially but not only librarians) were working to replace all Amazon-sourced-data. They were using a special form, and some edits from that time would look very odd.
