Vivian | 50 comments I read this book in my school library in the mid to late 1960s in Ann Arbor Michigan. It was a hardback book of ghost stories with a hunter and Irish Setter in the woods. The story I remember was that a hunter met up with an Irish Setter who gave him the best hunt of his life. He was talking about it with his friends and they've all met up with the dog, he was a ghost. He only visited a hunter once and provided the best hunt of his life.

Vivian, I copied a few book details to the topic header. Feel free to edit it.

Did the ghost stories have a common theme?

About how many short stories? Written by the same or multiple authors?

Vivian | 50 comments The hardcover book was probably about 200 pages long, all different ghost stories. I think they were by different authors. It's only the single story that I remember. I have a feeling that they were all Michigan based though. The dog was the ghost, and the hunter was really upset when he found out that other people went hunting with this dog and the dog would disappear after the hunt and was never seen by that person again. It might have been all animal ghosts or all Michigan ghosts.

Vivian | 50 comments I remembered that the book had a picture of an Irish Setter on the cover. However I don't know if I'm remembering it right, LOL.

Rainbowheart | 28692 comments There is a Ghost Animal list, but I'm not sure your book is on it.
