[2024] Poll 4 Voting - MULTIWEEK

This was a weird vote for me. There were a number of them I didn't mind but I only had two upvotes and six downvotes. My upvotes were two books in a series. My goal next year is to complete a lot of my series that I haven't. I voted for 2 because I figured that prompt would have more luck than 3 books in a series. I also voted for a book with life in the title and a book with death in the title. I have several of those to read.
I downvoted the names that rhyme. I feel like I don't have a lot of authors where their names would rhyme.
Books that have titles that create a sentence or poem would just stress me out. I'm not very creative. I could figure it out if it got in though.
Books with similar covers also kind of stressed me out so I downvoted that also.
I downvoted solid, liquid and gas because I just don't know what I'd read for those.
I downvoted the lost and found family one. I just felt like it might ruin the plot for me if I knew that ahead of time.
I ended up downvoting the music one. I tend to have a hard time finding books for those and for art prompts.
The other ones I wouldn't mind them getting in at all.
I had made an even split, 4 up. 4 down. I could have had 8 down-LoL but I controlled myself.Joan, I also voted two books in a series and it appears we had some of the same down votes. I am new around here and the voting has been interesting as it seems I am have been, unknowingly, voting the same as a lot of the group.

Welcome - it's a fun group. The challenges are fun and no one judges your picks.

I absolutely love the 3 books whose titles make a sentence or poem prompt! It's just so fun and creative and I love that the books will be actually interconnected in some way rather than just having similar covers/titles/themes/subjects/etc. (I say this as the person who suggested the same word in the title prompt last year, LOL). I also like the 4 seasons prompt since I'm a big cover person and would love the scavenger hunt of finding covers that fit each season.
I downvoted the prompts that just don't excite me such as the retelling and lost and found (a book about lost/separated families does not appeal to me - I would have preferred it if the word "family" wasn't in the prompt). And I didn't downvote it but I don't understand the "truth or dare" prompt - do the books have to be related to the game itself (as in it should be played by characters in the book?) or do they thematically have to center around a debate of truth or dare? No matter how I try to interpret it, it seems difficult. For example, as someone who reads mainly fiction, I can't really think of any books I've read recently that really emphasize "truth". Will have to go back and review the suggestions thread since I haven't had time to participate in any discussions this year.

I was surprised by how many I had. I like mystery thrillers, and they always have daring characters. I'm not creative so I wasn't going to vote for the poem, but I like your idea of putting three related titles together. They might sound good together.

Bea asked a similar question in message 56 of this thread, and a few suggestions for interpretation were made in messages 57 and 59 if you're interested. :)
For everyone suggesting clouds for gas... and while you don't have to listen to me for your own challenge... clouds aren't really gas. They are what happens when water vapour condenses into water or freezes into ice, in the cooler air high up.I still voted for it, but I doubt it will get in. Maybe we can try a cloud related prompt when it doesn't.
Truth immediately made me think of crime or mysteries where someone is trying to find out the truth of what happened. Dare seems a bit more complicated to me but I could find an adventure story.

And I know that clouds are actually collections of water droplets, so I did pause before putting clouds & fog in the "vapor" category, but I think it fits. Steam, technically, is also vapor plus liquid droplets - if it were pure vapor it would not be easy to see, it's only the suddenly condensing droplets that make steam look like steam. But I think most people think of vapor when they think of steam, clouds, and fog.
I'm with Ellie on gas, but of course in Canada and the States we also use gas for gasoline which isn't a gas at all. However, clouds are not vapour because vapour is transparent and clouds are not :) -- I even double checked before posting this to be sure.

It could be such a versatile prompt, that could be filled in some really interesting ways! My current idea is reading a true crime non-fiction paired with a crime novel, but there are so many other things you could do too!
