Miscommunication- I used to not fully understand what this is! But in books I have never liked it! It just makes a book like 3 stars, idk! But tbh I’ve only ever seen it in books that I really didn’t like or were overall bad bad books! Like a few early early ya books!But in movies it can be done well if it’s only for little things, but if it’s like something big… 😐 I’m outta there!

This might only be me and a little controversial but when the big component of mc's (be it the guy or the girl) personality is sleeping around with people for fun or just for any type of advantage. I'm avoiding Addicted for that reason and dnf "Shadows between us." It's just so annoying to read too.

tons of extreme swearing in fantasy books. like Serpent and Dove. that was supposed to be historical fiction fantasy and the amount of swearing was insane. also when they talk about sports a lot. especially football. i did not pick up a book for that

When they try and use gen z ‘slang’ or a love triangle that’s obvious how it’s gonna turn out. The only good love triangle I’ve read was The Naturals and The Inheritance Games.

literally everything everyone else here listed lol but also i hate when they make a character that has anxiety so stereotypical and basic and it ends up really annoying, and i hate when the mc has such a one track mind that they forget about everyone else, even their family
chapters longer than 5 pages. short chapters for the win.
