I read this book in the last year and a lot is fuzzy, details I can remember:
She answers an ad for a gig as a private chef for a dinner party. He is somewhat reclusive/socially awkward, there was a mention of a fax machine and I don't think he even had a cell phone. He hires here a few times. He was raised in the Caribbean (I think) and moved to NYC for his work. He works in Tech and created some type of desirable software. Dinner party is really a business meeting. He likes to play video games, I believe the book mentions Guitar Hero. They become friends and she even goes shopping with him.
There's a part when he gives up on NYC and goes back to the islands (he actually inherits the property there) and I think she follows him there.
