SOLVED. Children’s Picture book read in the 80’s- Siblings (bears, I think?) find an injured bird and nurse it back to health, but it dies in the end. The brother bear builds a birdhouse or box for the bird at some point. [s]

Very detailed illustrations. At one point the brother bear (maybe named Benjamin) builds/paints a house for the bird. Not Berenstain Bears.

The Attic Treasure by Steve McKinstry? The bear siblings are called Benjamin and Lucy. Funnily enough there is a Berenstain Bears book about finding an injured bird called The Berenstain Bears and the attic treasure, but this is a different book!
