Afterlight (Dark Ink Chronicles, #1) by Elle Jasper by Elle Jasper

Date Read: 21 May
Rating: 3 stars
Review:
This is an ok introduction to the series. The MC is a tattoo artist which I haven't really read much of. But, for me, the writing sort of let me down. The writing felt like it was bogged down with too many unnecessary details. It reads more like a typical UF/PNR and I'm already sure I can predict the things that will happen. I'm not sure if I'll continue for that same reason.

Week 10 - Spot 82, 2nd in a series (and yellow cover)
Major Lord David by Sherry Lynn Ferguson
Read - May 23, 2015
Rating - 3 stars

For being a regency romance, there wasn't much romance. It was more about families and their relationships. The book was also about Britain at war with Napoleon. The battle in the book was fascinating. I wonder if the author was using a particular real skirmish in the story. A solid 3 stars.

Review: Better than the first book although there are still too many references to popular culture and unexplained military slang. While Frank and Becky have sizzling chemistry and there interactions are brilliant, his excuse for not wanting to be with her is ridiculous. The next book is Shell and Jake's and it looks good.

Vamps and the City (Love at Stake, #2) by Kerrelyn Sparks
Book:
Vamps and the City (Love at Stake, Book )
Read: May 27
Rating& Review: ★★★.
I don't get the fascination with this series. I have tried this book 2 before I still fail to get the humor. I never connected with Darcy nor Austin. The idea of a Vampire reality tv show seemed like it would be funny, but it didn't get there for me. But I loved Book 5 of this series so I don't want to give up.

The Mad Ship (Liveship Traders, #2) by Robin Hobb by Robin Hobb

Date Read: 27 May 2015

Review:
This was a really good read. There are so many plots that I can’t imagine how the author managed to track everything down. The world-building is so so detailed – I didn’t imagine what the Liveships introduced in the first book would turn out to be. It is very imaginative. Next is the character building – there is Malta a spoiled brat in the beginning of the book who you frankly want to smack her. But at the end of the book, she grows into this mature woman that you support. Or the Captain Kennit who on the paper looks to be a Bad Guy but doesn’t really behave like one. He’s complex, confusing. I can't wait to see how the last book ties all the plot points together.

I’m definitely picking up the next book in the series. There are so many books that I want to read. Most of it is >600 pages which is really telling of the author's ability.

I really enjoyed the first book in the series and I was happy to see the continuation of Hugo and Kevin's relationship but I didn't love this book. I found it slow at times and wasn't pulled into the story like I am with other books. I will read book 3 because I hate to leave a series unfinished but I really hope it is better than this book.

The reason i love Suzanne Enoch is because of books like this. I throughly enjoyed reading this book. The two main charactetrs were very appealing, l enjoyed the plot and the book was very engrossing and easy to read. The hero and herione both suffered from mistakesmade from their youth.and they are both survivots

I can't wait to see how different the book is from the movie. I do know that Mrs. Potts is alive and well in the book. So I'm assuming there is no love interest with Truly Scrumptious :)

Tall, Tatted and Tempting (The Reed Brothers, #1) by Tammy Falkner
Book:
Tall, Tatted and Tempting (Alt. Read--Author "F": Tammy Falkner)
Read: May 29
Rating& Review: ★★★★.
This one of the best freebies I've read. A really good story featuring a wanderer named Kat who met Logan and his brothers when she came to their tattoo shop. Something about her called to Logan and even though he is deaf, he could hear Kat's pain. They began seeing each other but Kat was afraid to trust Logan with her secrets. He knew she was dyslexic and was was hiding from someone/something. Logan was dealing with his own family health issues but he knew he couldn't live without Kat, so he resolved to break down her walls. Thus began the journey of letting each other into their hearts.

Kat and Logan were sweet together. I liked the family, loyalty and general affection they portrayed. I hope book 2 gives further background information.

Nope. No Truly Scrumptious. There was a Lord Skrumshus who owned the candy factory, but he was the only Skrumshus in the book.

Edited to add - in the movie, the family name is Scrumptious, in the book it is Lord Skrumshus

I had some issues with this book as well. I didn't like the fact that Logan never fully acknowledged that he hit Linda. It was always some remark of being sorry for things getting out of hand--but not sorry that I hit you.
