YA Sci-Fi with sentient black hole as major side character, read 5-10 yrs ago.

I read this book when I was younger, could have been anywhere from 2010-2016. Probably a YA sci-fi, but could have been middle grade or fantasy? Contemporary setting. The only character I distinctly remember is a black hole (maybe white hole) who I think had a name and was overall a very funny/interesting character. I remember two scenes very clearly:

1. The main cast is down in a subway or something or walking through the streets of a city, and the main character notices someone eating a ham and cheese sandwich, and the black hole is amazed by the fact that humans, despite being such simple life forms, can appreciate the complex different tastes of foods. The black hole says he just eats all kinds of stuff indiscriminately.

2. Later, the kids are in school and the black hole starts throwing up??? But it isn't gross or anything. He's just randomly spitting out objects. Eventually there is a comically large and diverse array of objects that have seemed to randomly appeared on the school's front lawn, stuff like vacuums and books and even a car??? And all the teachers and students are walking around gawking at the stuff, and only the main characters know why all the stuff is there.

The Young Wizards series by Diane Duane has a white hole called Fred. I think he only appears in the first book, So You Want to Be a Wizard.

Just checked and there is a scene in the book where Fred gets hiccups and starts 'emitting' random objects:

(I’ll meet you here,) Fred said. The mournful thought was followed by another burp/squeak, and another bang! and four volumes of an encyclopedia were sitting on the ground next to the TV.

I think he also regurgitated a plane at one point.
