I like it a lot tbh it doesnāt deserve all the hate
it's very creative but it doesn't rlly fit the vibe imo
i think the rewritten version is rly clever, i just like the og one better š that was my only disappointment w the tv album

The og lyric made a little uncomfy ngl. I feel like the new lyric is too poetic tho and doesn't quite fit the vibe of the song

Iām not a huge fan. I just feel like āsheās better known for the things that she does on the mattressā makes so much more sense in the context of the song then the new one.
I understand why she changed the lyrics, but I donāt think it hits the same as the old lyrics did, and the old lyrics fit a lot better with the context of the song. I still love it and am going to listen to it, but I still prefer the original even though itās problematic.

@ash technically yes, but for me i just feel like the lyric shows that at the time taylor was dealing w a lot of angst & anger over the situation that caused her to write better than revenge, & changing the lyric is like trying to erase her mistakes instead of preserving the authenticity of the speak now album yk? i saw someone say that the point of the taylorās version tracks is to provide taytayās audience w a way to listen to the same songs weāve always loved (in addition to some new vault tracks <33) but w/out supporting her previous record label. changing the lyric in better than revenge makes it more difficult to send that message tho, as the track is not the same as the one produced in the og speak now. bc of this ig some of her audience might still be inclined to listen to the og better than revenge, which sort of defeats the purpose of the re-recording ofc i can see how āsheās better known for the things that she does on the mattressā might be uncomfy to listen to for some swifties, but i think it just shows how taylor was at an age where she was truly feeling everything so strongly, & some those emotions came out in angry lyrics that might not be interpreted in the best way by the person the song was intended for. taylor in the speak now era was still learning to live in the limelight & present herself in a certain way, so changing the lyric kinda goes against the idea of preserving what the album says about who taylor was as a person & artist back in 2010

I understand more now why she changed it, I was talking about this with one of my friends. It's less slut shaming of the girl and more blames the guy for being attracted away. But still, that's still what the entire rest of the song is about so idk. I really like the new one, it's not quite as savage as the og though, which I quite liked. Still so poetic though

Being the 18 year old girl who feels to much , cries too often and gets angry at men - I love that line because girls who steal other girls men are a different race I tell ya . She was 19 and feeling all these hard emotions, I think what she said about the actress was completely valid. Slut shaming maybe not and she apologized later but she was also 19 and I feel like if someone did that to one of us we would do the same thing in our anger.
i miss the og, but not enough to stream the stolen version. i feel like everyone is making it seem bigger than it is?? tbh i feel like taylor wouldāve been hated on even if she didnāt change the lyric-everyone would be saying that sheās misogynistic and that it goes against her view or smth. its just a lose lose situation š
