nadia (nadias_books) | 41 comments tbh i like it better 🫣

*•Mia•* | 266 comments I like it a lot tbh it doesn’t deserve all the hate

legendofthe3divas | 998 comments it's very creative but it doesn't rlly fit the vibe imo

eliana_sophiaa | 192 comments i think the rewritten version is rly clever, i just like the og one better 😭 that was my only disappointment w the tv album

message 7: by sadie (new)

sadie | 92 comments I like the original better, but i totally understand why she changed them!!

message 8: by Callie (new)

Callie Rae | 33 comments I love it! It’s so poetic

Bailey(not super active lol) | 733 comments I hated it 😭😭 I want my mattress line so
I can scream it in the car…. That’s what helps me feel better after a long day.

message 10: by elsie (new)

elsie (taylor's version) | 189 comments The og lyric made a little uncomfy ngl. I feel like the new lyric is too poetic tho and doesn't quite fit the vibe of the song

message 11: by gabriella (new)

gabriella | 17 comments I don't love it but I think I'll get used to it

message 12: by Makenna (new)

Makenna | 97 comments I’m not a huge fan. I just feel like ā€œshe’s better known for the things that she does on the mattressā€ makes so much more sense in the context of the song then the new one.

message 13: by Annabelle (new)

Annabelle | 131 comments I understand why she changed the lyrics, but I don’t think it hits the same as the old lyrics did, and the old lyrics fit a lot better with the context of the song. I still love it and am going to listen to it, but I still prefer the original even though it’s problematic.

rae (jurdan's version) I don't hate it :) I think it was really clever but I loved the old one

message 15: by ryan⸆⸉ (new)

ryan⸆⸉ | 62 comments i honestly think it slaps 😭

message 16: by amelie (new)

amelie (taylor’s version) | 478 comments I like it! I’m just gonna miss the old version a lot tbh

Carol 🐆🍸🍒💘 | 24 comments i think taylor changed it in a way that makes sense— did she need to? meh, that’s up for debate, but the new lyrics don’t take away from how amazing this song is

mak āŠ¹ā‚Šā‹† (maklacedwithlove) | 350 comments i thought the og was slut shaming, isn’t that why she changed it?

message 19: by Elena (new)

Elena Newburry | 1 comments I don’t think the new lyric fits stylistically but I def think it was the right move to change it with who she’s become

message 20: by allie (new)

allie | 118 comments The change devalued the entire song
She wrote it when she was a heartbroken 19 year old, that shit happens
Who cares if there’s slut shaming?
Taylor already commented on that
She should’ve kept it

message 21: by Audrey (new)

Audrey | 251 comments Uhh I don’t like it as much as the old lyrics and I can’t scream it the same way but..guess I’ll get used to it, it’s not like it’s bad or anything

message 22: by eliana_sophiaa (new)

eliana_sophiaa | 192 comments @ash technically yes, but for me i just feel like the lyric shows that at the time taylor was dealing w a lot of angst & anger over the situation that caused her to write better than revenge, & changing the lyric is like trying to erase her mistakes instead of preserving the authenticity of the speak now album yk? i saw someone say that the point of the taylor’s version tracks is to provide taytay’s audience w a way to listen to the same songs we’ve always loved (in addition to some new vault tracks <33) but w/out supporting her previous record label. changing the lyric in better than revenge makes it more difficult to send that message tho, as the track is not the same as the one produced in the og speak now. bc of this ig some of her audience might still be inclined to listen to the og better than revenge, which sort of defeats the purpose of the re-recording

ofc i can see how ā€œshe’s better known for the things that she does on the mattressā€ might be uncomfy to listen to for some swifties, but i think it just shows how taylor was at an age where she was truly feeling everything so strongly, & some those emotions came out in angry lyrics that might not be interpreted in the best way by the person the song was intended for. taylor in the speak now era was still learning to live in the limelight & present herself in a certain way, so changing the lyric kinda goes against the idea of preserving what the album says about who taylor was as a person & artist back in 2010

message 23: by Jenna (new)

Jenna | 37 comments I understand why she changed it, I like it I think it’s creative but it doesn’t flow that well

message 24: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 212 comments I understand more now why she changed it, I was talking about this with one of my friends. It's less slut shaming of the girl and more blames the guy for being attracted away. But still, that's still what the entire rest of the song is about so idk. I really like the new one, it's not quite as savage as the og though, which I quite liked. Still so poetic though

message 25: by Polly (new)

Polly | 292 comments slut shaming is definitely not appropriate, it’s taylor’s mistake and she wants to fix it bc it’s wrong and not okay.

message 26: by emily (new)

emily i don’t like the old one, and i love the new one but i don’t think it’s the right vibe

Bailey(not super active lol) | 733 comments Being the 18 year old girl who feels to much , cries too often and gets angry at men - I love that line because girls who steal other girls men are a different race I tell ya . She was 19 and feeling all these hard emotions, I think what she said about the actress was completely valid. Slut shaming maybe not and she apologized later but she was also 19 and I feel like if someone did that to one of us we would do the same thing in our anger.

hansika 🫶 (hansikataylorsversion) | 172 comments i miss the og, but not enough to stream the stolen version. i feel like everyone is making it seem bigger than it is?? tbh i feel like taylor would’ve been hated on even if she didn’t change the lyric-everyone would be saying that she’s misogynistic and that it goes against her view or smth. its just a lose lose situation 😭

message 29: by joys (new)

joys | 11 comments it’s good but the og one was and will forever be iconic

message 30: by Payton (new)

Payton B | 5 comments the original is iconic BUT I LOVE THE NEW ONE TOO

message 31: by Addison Grace (new)

Addison Grace | 15 comments Like the og bettter but won’t listen to it stolen.

message 32: by emily (new)

emily I CHANGED MY MIND I LOVE THE NEW ONE

message 33: by Islaā˜† (new)

Islaā˜† I like the new one,but miss the old one

message 34: by Mila (new)

Mila | 1 comments yes I love the new lyric i can't believe so many people hate it

message 35: by Lia (new)

Lia | 148 comments tbh i don’t know why everyone was throwing tantrums and acting like the whole world was going to end (at least from what i saw on tt) its fine if u miss it but going out of ur way to talk about how terrible taylor is for changing it is cruel

thea ą±Øą§Ž (theaxreads) | 11 comments i prefer the old one but, i get why she changed it

to me i feel like it wasnt necessarily slut shaming as it was homewrecker shaming yk?
