message 56: by Mary (new)

Mary | 1 comments Hi to all,
I'm in my last year of Modern European History and plan on using my degree (I stormed year 1 and 2 so, I am confident of getting out with the bit of paper necessary) to it's fullest. I'll be working at a garden centre, at a small-holding growing organic fruit and veg, and be managing a veterans centre (cook, clean, organising care for those who need it, scheduling events, and most importantly - and why I'm loved down there - providing the cider I make), basically doing all I can to look after the mob. And, they are a mob and, I love them all to bits.

Phil | 1 comments Hi, I'm Phil,

The entire military arena interests me. I'm from the Uk so do look more keenly at the European Front.

Marc | 3 comments Welcome to the group, Mary and Phil!

If you desire any recommendations on a World War II topic, don't be afraid to ask...just be afraid of how many you might get!!

message 63: by Gisela (new)

Gisela | 1 comments Good'day, mates,

I'm reading what I can, it ain't much but, what the heck. Italian family, bloody heaps of 'em. And, I've hair to cut, and style. That used to be my favourite thing - reading is fast taking over.

message 66: by Jimp (new)

Jimp | 1 comments Jump is my nickname. I'm tall and thin: years of long-distance running and now, I work with a bunch of steely-eyed VIP protection officers. They take no prisoners.
I like the idea of your group and several of my friends have joined you. I do believe it's in my best interests to follow suit. There are several gals in my set who I do admire and am sure they'll not let me forget, should I not.
I am, of course, glad to be a member.

Mike | 13 comments Hi folks. I read a lot. 107 books so far this year. About half of the books that I read are related to military history.

message 72: by J.J. (new)

J.J. Valdés | 3 comments Hello, my name is JJ Valdés and I look forward to participating in the group! I retired from U.S. federal service a few years ago and am the author of "Besieged Beachhead: The Cold War Battle for Cuba at the Bay of Pigs (Stackpole Books, 2024). My main area of interest, obviously, is Cold War military history, especially within the context of Cuba and the rest of Latin America.

message 77: by Robert (new)

Robert Jr. | 1 comments Hi. I'm Bob Caslen, retired Army LTG, served 43 years. I just had my new book published - "The Impossible Mission". It is about the drawdown of US Forces, the resurrection of ISIS and its caliphate, and the reintroduction of US forces. I was the senior commander on the ground for most of that and want to capture the strategic lessons learned of war termination and war transition from one US Gov't department to another.

message 78: by Antonios (new)

Antonios Athenaeus | 1 comments Hello everyone! My name is Antonios Athenaeus and I’m from Greece. I have always been fascinated by ancient history, especially the ways in which leadership, strategy, and culture shaped the classical world. I enjoy reading both primary sources and modern scholarship, and I joined this group to exchange ideas and learn from other history enthusiasts. Looking forward to the discussions here and to discovering new perspectives on both ancient and more recent history!

message 79: by 'Aussie Rick' (new)

'Aussie Rick' (aussierick) | 23 comments Hi Robert and Antonios, welcome to the group.

Antonios, obviously you are in the right place to explore ancient history eh, how lucky are you!
