If you are unsure, I recommend to separate before merging.
As for editions where the ASIN no longer show up in search, they should not be deleted. It's likely no longer for sale, but that doesn't mean it's an invalid edition.

The manual states: Note that merging duplicate editions means updating the status of the edition with no ISBN/ASIN (or an incorrect ISBN/ASIN) to "Deleted".
In this case, can I safely consider some of those imports as having "incorrect" ASINs and merge and delete them?

I remember this was addressed in an earlier thread here:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
In short, print editions reseller ASINs can be marked as Invalid (not Deleted) given the criterias mentioned by staff in the other thread.

Now I wonder what should be done if they do have ratings and reviews. I would think they can also be marked invalid, since the ratings and reviews won't disappear this way. But Jaclyn's comment seems to imply we should leave them be?

I usually merge them or ask a superlibrarian to merge them if there are a lot of ratings.

Also the instructions say that we can't delete an edition that has an ASIN? Does that still apply if the ASIN is no longer showing up on an Amazon search?
