You must have read my mind Helen, I was just thinking about that very subject....

As it's December coming up, do you want to read a Christmas/Winter themed book for the genre challenge?

message 111: by Ocylou (new)

Ocylou I'd love a Christmas themed challenge :D

Oh no! The end of the month is once again in sight. Time to switch on the random generator....

What will the next genre be?

message 125: by Liz, Moderator (new)

Liz | 4131 comments Mod
Well, how do you feel about Westerns?

Not one of my favourites this one, but I have stumbled on some great books in previous rounds of the challenge, so I'm hopeful.

I will go ahead and set up the new thread.....

Liz | 4131 comments Mod
We're coming up to the end of the month. So it's time to operate the randomn generator to pick the genre for February...

message 127: by Liz, Moderator (new)

Liz | 4131 comments Mod
Well, we'll be staying in the US for February: 20thC American Classics.... I'll go ahead and post the thread.

Oops! The end of February has rushed upon me (even with the extra day). Just let me run the random genre picker.....

message 130: by Liz, Moderator (new)

Liz | 4131 comments Mod
OK, for March, the random-genre-picker has chosen: horror/gothic/ghost stories

So something spooky is on the cards. I'd better set up the thread....

Coming up to the end of the month and according to the random generator, the genre for April is: Crime/Detective. (Or 'defective' as my autocorrect has been trying to type!)
I will go ahead and post the thread....

message 132: by [deleted user] (new)

My favourite genre!

message 133: by Leni (new)

Leni Iversen (leniverse) | 354 comments I only just jumped in now in March, but I think I'd like to complete the whole challenge. So can I add books read in the various categories since the start of the challenge? Like, I've read a lot of Classic novels in the past few months, but I'm not sure if I happened to read any in the month you dedicated to it (I'll have to check). So can I backdate? (Not going back further than the month the rest of you did each genre.) And then I'll have to catch up on the genres I haven't read at all lately. Like western. And poetry. And a few others. lol

message 134: by Ian, Moderator (new)

Ian (pepecan) | 5088 comments Mod
Yep no probs Leni. Just post on the relevant thread.

message 135: by Leni (new)

Leni Iversen (leniverse) | 354 comments Alright then! I've discovered that I still need to catch up on Poetry, Magical Realism, Western, 20th C. American Classics, and maybe Erotica. Uh, no problem for sure. lol

message 136: by Liz, Moderator (new)

Liz | 4131 comments Mod
What happened to April? It's the end of the month and I've just done the random genre generator thing again....

It's Film tie-ins for May. So any book that has been adapted for the screen....
Loads to choose from! I will go ahead and set up the thread :)

Here now, no need to be hasty! We have a week left. A week and a day, even! Though there's nothing wrong with preparing for next month, I suppose.

message 139: by Sue (new)

Sue | 1296 comments It takes the library so long to get books in, early would be good Given up on this month's and bought something on kindle for it.

Time to spin the randomn generator (or whatever actually goes on inside a computer microchip......)

Well, it's war/revolution for July. Shame it wasn't comedy, we could have used a little levity.

I shall go ahead and set up the thread.....

Considering the surrealism of the current situation, I'm thinking a reread of Catch-22 might be appropriate....

message 147: by Leni (new)

Leni Iversen (leniverse) | 354 comments Oh! Catch-22! I had planned on reading that this year. I had clean forgotten about that. July is the month then!
