Removing duplicates

Hello,

I hope you can help me. There are duplicates of three of my books.

The duplicate listings don’t have well-formatted book descriptions, aren’t part of the official series page, and one of the books doesn’t have a cover image.

After reading a few help articles, I’m not sure how to handle these duplicates, and I’m not sure if your process is to delete them or merge them, so I’m reaching out for your assistance.

They are not duplicates, but valid editions, each book has a Kindle edition and a paperback. They needed just combining and I added the missing cover.

Good to know! Thank you so much for your help! I didn't realize there are separate listings for each edition and format.

If you don't mind, I have a couple follow-up questions:

#1 - If I only have a Kindle edition and a paperback, why do some of my books have 3 editions?

Stone Protector (in the same series) has 1 Kindle edition and 2 paperback editions: https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio...

#2 - For a good user/reader experience, should I go ahead and format the book descriptions for these additional edition/format listings? Do you happen to know what other authors do?

#1 These were bogus editions created by the bot, I marked them Invalid.

#2 You can have one default description being used for all editions or you can have different descriptions, it is up to you.

Ah! Thanks so much for the help! One more follow-up question: How do I enable one default description for all editions?

When you add a new edition, if you don't supply a description, it will use the default description. Also, deleting the description from an existing edition will force it to use the default description.

When you enter a description, under the description field there is a tick button saying "set this as the default description", at least for me.

Thanks for the tip! I see the check box for “set this as the default description,” but unfortunately, the system won’t allow me to make the change since I’m not a Goodreads Librarian. :(

On the series page (https://www.goodreads.com/series/3387...), book 6 defaults to the unformatted description.
