July Subdue the Shelf Roll Requests
Anita & JoAnne, My book for #2 is checked out at the library, and not available for a month, so I am going to use one of my earned benefits to move ahead 5 spaces, so I am now on space #7. I have noted the details on my Board.
Anita/ Joanne. My reading is slowing way down, so I’ll be adding rewards to many rolls to help me finish up. My #16 didn’t come in yet, but my #18 (Fourth Wing) did, so I added a 2 space reward from 4/30 to my 4 roll.
I got a 2-3, which means I earned an extra swap. Which I may or may not use for this upcoming #16. I had to buy a book off Amazon for $6. We will see how long it takes to come. I'll let you know if I plan to use it or not,
I am ready for another roll, please! (4)My last book was 704 pages:

My answer to all emoji’s and button responses is , “why would we need them? We have words!”
I’m ready for my next roll (2) please. My last book was 528 pages. https://www.amazon.com/Fourth-Wing-Em...

Oh, I laughed, too! (I just didn't comment.) This is where, not only a "like" button, but a "laugh" button would come in handy! :-)

What a nice surprise it was to be welcomed back in this way! This is such a wonderful community to be part of, and I have missed all of you!
My daughter is here for the day and the cocktails are flowing, probably no update on the board until the morning

I am always mystified by emojis and buttons, who needs that when we have language! Not to offend anyone, but if you are one of the people that puts a "like" after any of my ratings or my yearly challenge on GR, you don't have to bother. I just find the Notifications annoying. (I don't even do reviews on GR, I just assign stars and do the reviews in specific groups, but I sometimes get notifications that someone "liked my review".)

Robin, I don’t mind emojis at all. They substitute for the facial expressions we can’t see online. I just wish they were better at communicating irony, tongue-in-cheek humor, sarcasm, nodding, understanding, shrugging, etc. (though maybe they exist and I just can’t tell). There is more to communication than language.
There is an oft quoted old study that concluded that the words we speak communicate only 7% (or maybe it was 14%) of the meaning. Tone of voice and body language - especially smiles and other facial expressions communicate the rest. A simple request might seem fine to someone when heard in a friendly voice, but in an email it might be heard as impatient or demanding. (How many people have gotten mad at a boss or coworker for this reason?)

I’m surprised by how quiet my neighborhood has been this year. Usually we hear a lot more backyard fireworks. (We had to give our dog sedatives.)
I'm planning to use one of my swaps for my current book:I'm swapping #44 Lucy by the Sea (291 pages) with #91 Caliban's War (624 pages).
I'll note on my game board.
🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁My next roll please - 1.
I'm sooooo excited! It's been a month since I could ask for one. Just in case you wonder how excited I am --- and just what's causing that Caboose to wobble and rock --- a little Pointer Sisters are helping with my celebration.

I hope y'all spotted Amy in her dancing shoes and flirty skirt in the middle of it all.
Between you and HJ, I am going to be dancing nonstop in celebration! Keep those cocktails flowing! Thank you for noticing my fun party dress!!!

You will be moving Sabrina. Please report back on what you decide.
Waking Up WednesdayIt was definitely a long (alcohol fueled) weekend, and I think I missed Shake It Up Sunday!
I'm sorry, Hannah, but you are this week's victim. Please move back 6 on your next turn (after you finish your current read).

If you roll:
1-1: The current leader must move back 3 spaces on their game board and read the book where they have landed next.
Any combination totaling 7: You move 7 spaces and stay on that space, but you may read the book you land on OR one book forward or one book back - - your choice.
6-6: Don't like the book you will land on? You may roll again.
3-1: You get to take pick someone's next move on the board. The admins will use random.org to decide who will be moved. You get to decide which book they must move to next on their game board - - backward or forward -- within a 15 book radius. So you can move your opponent up to 15 spaces back or up to 15 spaces forward to the book of your choosing. Should you be reluctant to move another player ,or if you do not respond to an administrator's request to designate the move, random.org will move the player - odd rolls will move the player backward and even rolls will move the player forward.
2-1: You may use up to 3 of your participation points to move yourself ahead up to 3 spaces.
6-5: You must read a book that's on someone else's board and NOT on your own before you may roll again. (extra note here: you may read the book you land on first and then read the other person's book, or vice-versa. So two books must be completed before you re-roll).
4-4: Receive 4 participation points for the next book you read/review.
2-3 Get an extra "swap" that you may use anytime during the game.
6-4 Earn a surprise advantage to use anytime during the game
