Read around 2010/2011. Could have been published any time from the mid 90s to mid 2000s. Probably male author.
I most remember that the plot was about a pair of brothers who were in a motel and then were kidnapped by a villain who forcibly injected them by a needle of nano bots. (possibly in an orange liquid) There was also a woman with a potted plant that she is very attached to.
They try to hunt down the man who injected them - the woman was possibly also injected. There was probably a big car crash in the story.
The cover was a scene from the end of the book. There is a dock looking out onto a lake and there are lots of candles. It is foggy and night. Mostly cool blue tones, some gray and red.
