abbs | 63 comments does anyone have tips on how to motivate yourself to keep writing the book lol. every time i start a book, i lose motivation after a few chapters and i just get bored

Dreamcatcher (HIATUS) My top three are

-Write in comic sans
-Listen to Lyricless music or ambience (I have a ton of recs if anyone wants some)
-Write fanfiction of your own characters or if you're into world building write about an irrelevant character's daily life

Oo i do that too! It's always very helpful.
Along with taking the MTBI test for my characters.

jaii ♡ (selwyn's version ♡ ) | 11 comments i'd say don't be afraid to take breaks whether its 20 minutes or 2 days.

SET GOALS, say you'll write 20 pages each day or 2 chapters a day. it might take a while but it will get done eventually.

create drafts for your drafts. like write on paper a graphic organizer of what you wanna write that day/week. idk how but it works everytime for me :)

overall just create a habit so when you don't write, it'll seem wrong not to.

As a college student in Creative Writing, the best tips I've been taught are these:
1. Make yourself write. Even if you don't feel like it or aren't feeling inspired, write anyway.

2. Set a goal of how many words you want to write per day, or per week, depending on how much extra time you have to set aside to write. But always try and reach your goal, as this will really help you to get into the habit of writing.

3. Don't worry about perfection on the 1st draft, just focus on getting the words down. You can go back and edit later.

Hope these help! Have fun writing! :)

Emily Reed I need an opinion! I don't know if I should continue writing my short story or not. Basically, it's about the son of Hades and Persephone, Omen, but when he was born Zeus stripped him of his full godly power, so Omen became a half-blood. One day Zeus gives Omen a quest and if he completes it Zeus will restore Omen's full power to him. The quest is to find the serial killer that is killing half-bloods. Which leads Omen to the Woods of Many Dreams (the story setting is somewhere between Olympus and Earth) where he meets Visha Szilyia (which means deadly poison from the forest, thank you Pinterest for the idea lol), who is the daughter of Morpheus. But Visha has a secret that may destroy them all....

Does that sound like it is too complicated? I have to write something for a class but I dont know!!!

@Emily That is super interesting!! I love Greek Mythology. You should definitely write it!

Dreamcatcher (HIATUS) Emily It's actually a pretty simple (but intresting) plot though.
I think it'll take 10-15k words to complete minimum but it'll turn out good if the execution is good.
If you don't mind I'd love to a beta reader lol

Also I love the name Visha Szilyia lol. Even though Visha sounds like a male name. It's very cool and has a nice meaning :)

@Dreamcatcher "Visha" is actually originates from the word "विष" (pronounced Vish). It's Sanskrit and means poison. Just like in @Emily's story! :)

Emily Reed Ohmygosh ya'll are so nice!!!! I'll definitely keep working on it!!! Though it will probably take a loooooooong time lol.

Dreamcatcher (HIATUS) @A.J Yep That's why I said it sounds like a male name lol. But it can be pronounced Vee-Sha For the sake of her Storey I guess.

My Sanskrit is broken but hey at least I know the that much—

Also Emily what do you plan to name the story?

Unfortunately, not yet. I am planning on starting soon, but I am really busy with school, work, and soccer. So, I haven't had time to yet :(

Mae Reads | 6 comments What also helps me is connecting songs and Pinterest boards to my characters so everytime I stumble over the song/the pics I think of them and want to write more. Take your time writing! Good stuff may take long and don't pressure yourself about writing a good first draft :) I'd love to read your story though when you are done!
