Author name for an adaptation with confusing data.

I am not sure if this is the correct folder for merge requests.

There are two editions listed for the Disney paperback with record.

Based on my copy of the book

the Title should be : The Rankin/ Bass Production of The Hobbit
subtitle or description (Read-Along Book and 33 1/3 RPM Record #368 )

The author section is problematic.

The author cited may or may not be accurate but that name does NOT appear anywhere in the book. The only place anywhere he is cited as the author is on Goodreads.

amazon lists Arthur Rankin and Jules Bass as the primary authors, but they were the producers of the video.

J.R.R. Tolkien should be listed as an author since this is an adaption of his work.

Published by Disneyland/Vista Records NOT Disneyland records.
Format is paperback
24 pages.
There is no ISBN OR ISBN 13 for this 1977 book.

Now that I have librarian status, I am working on my own requests.
I researched the author that showed up on Goodreads only and realized that Amazon had imported 3 ASINS from third party sellers into a different work. I changed the names to match before seperating them from the other Hobbit musical and creating a more complete record that matched one on Amazon. Here is what I have so far. The Rankin Bass Production of The Hobbit Based on the Original Version of the Hobbit Written By J. R. R. Tolkien . 1977. 33 1/3 RPM LP record in sleeve..
There are other stray editions in the database that I need to combine and merge.

My question is what to use for author. this book has different author names all over the web. Rankin, Rankin/Bass, Tolkien etc.
The book is based on Tolkein's work but the author of the adaptation is anonymous. People have used the producers, production company, composers,and Tolkein.
One would assume that in this case the correct choice would technically be anonymous, but then that would mean any future combining or merging of that type of item would be a real pain in the neck because you would have to weed through thousands of books on the combine page. That doesn't seem ite right when the book could be attributed to one of the above. That thinking is probably why it is always attributed to one of the aforementioned "authors" anywhere I can find it on the web.

According to Goodreads policy, is there a correct choice?

I finally researched and found the screenwriter of the video. Since the readalong book was based on the video, I figured that his name was the most accurate choice. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

However there are more Rankin/ Bass read along books on Goodreads and even more out there that Amazon bots could end up importing. Does anyone have a definitive answer for the next time this comes up?
