I read this book around 2008-2009. The book was contemporary and I think the author was a woman? At the time, the author had written one other book in the romance category.
In this book I'm trying to find, the main characters are neighbors who haven't met face to face, but hate eachother and do passive agressive stuff (she always got his mail and would open it). Their meet-cute is her rescuing him from an obsessive ex by pretending to be his girlfriend. They end up taking a spontaneous trip to california (he wants to sell his coffee creamer and she wants to visit the memorial of Kurt Cobain) There are a bunch of ridiculous moments that include him trying to sneak into starbucks headquarters, and her bringing a dog on their adventure (I think)? The opening was pretty dramatic with her saying she was going to die, but in the next few pages she reveals she is AFRAID to die before 27 and join the 27 club. It was raunchy, and ridiculous.
This book cover didn't look like a stereotypical romance book, I had got it at the airport on a whim and bought it on paperback. It was standard sized, nothing over 400 pages or anything.
