Sci-Fi book about an Immortal Man Traveling in Space

The protagonist of the book is an immortal man. He travels through space in a spaceship, living through many adventures (the specifics of which, unfortunately, I don't recall). The aspect that really stuck with me was his backstory. He wasn't born with or achieved his immortality on his own. Instead, his father did something very bad that made him immortal.

I also recall that his skin was like sandpaper because of the many little scars he got over the many years he is alive. And he also covers all the clocks in his spaceship so he doesn't go crazy when traveling for long times.
