SOLVED. YA Fantasy book about a foreign land with magic and different courts that have humans (specifically in the sun court making weapons) and perhaps fae (dark court kidnaps sun court humans). Read in 2023. Spoilers. [s]

I read the book in 2023 and it was a new book since book two hadn't come out yet. The main character is a female who has a specific ability to (not sure about this) harness sun energy to create staffs and other weapons for the higher up/non humans (maybe faeries or some other creature) The book starts with her and her mentor and another younger girl getting kidnapped and taken to the darker court. The prince of the court needs her help but it is dangerous for her to be there in general. I think there is a plan for her to marry him and become his mate. The queen is the step mother/not related to the prince and he hates her but not obviously. The prince also has a lot of friends in the court who are helping him. SPOILER: The book ends with her almost dying and in the process of being hunted. There is another big reveal about the prince and his heritage but I don't remember more details.
