I loved this book I read as a kid, it had a big effect on me, and would love to find it for my own kids.

PLOT:
A little boy is feeling left out by his older brothers who wont let him join in/help around the house. So he goes off by himself into the forest and starts building his own house. He cuts down trees, binds them with ropes and ends up building the most incredible tree house (I cant remember if it was suspended or not). He invites his family and they are amazed that he built this all by himself, with nobodies help.

BOOK DETAILS:
I remember it having a limited colour pallete, black line drawing with green maybe? Paperback. I think it was from the US or Canada (but we live in Ireland).

ERA:
I read this book around 1985, but it could have been purchased up to 10 years before that.

Thank you for the suggestion Rainbowheart! It definitely fits the description but it is not that book i'm afraid. I suspect whoever made my book was heavily inspired though. Thanks for your help

The New House?

Ah im afraid not, but I'm now realising this must be a genre— little boys building houses by themselves..!

The one i'm thinking of was a the middle of a woods/forest somewhere and he was creating the entire thing himself by felling trees. He ends up building a kind of log cabin style house (possibly up in the trees, memory is sketchy). He had a gang of 3 or so much taller older brothers. Thank you though!
