Hi Cheryl. Glad you're starting a bit of a break, hope you get a chance to relax and read. :) I read The Red Tent quite awhile ago, but I remember loving it. I also seem to remember them advertising a movie made from the book not that long ago? I rarely watch movies and never ones from books that I like, but I know I'm the minority here. Everyone in my RL has heard my "hobbits aren't people" rant, so I will save you all from the pain. Are you guys movie people? TV people? Other interests besides reading? Snow is already melting here and the ice roads are getting unsafe. All I want to do is play outside in the giant mudpit my world has become. Too bad it's fake spring and there will be more freezing and snow before we are done. :D Time for work. Have a good Monday everyone.

Allison Ann, I live in fabulous sunny Las Vegas so we get to skip all of the snow and ice here. My mom has been visiting for my birthday and I'm sure she isn't excited to fly back to Illinois tomorrow. They have had it bad this winter. I started
so we can add that to our potential list. R, A (Alice), S (Seth), M (Georgie McCool). I'll look for other letters.
Michelle, I heard they were hit hard with snow. Over here on the pacific northwest the days are sunny and beautiful spring days, except yesterday. Yesterday was dark and heavy rain. I'll add the book to the list when I get home after work. Thank you for adding the names. Makes it easier for me, I don't have to search for the characters. The options with help out a lot once we have more books.
I am thinking we might spell out Shamrock about four or five times. :)
Yay Team Ruby!
I am not sure if anyone else on our team I doing the RPG reading novel challenge. My Lady Rachel's quest is almost a level 6. I am going to use books here for there. I will be leveling up my sword and my XP in now time. I had to read two books yesterday because they were expiring. It was painful to finish two books and not be able to use them for this challenge. :P Lady Rachel is hooked!
No RPG challenge for me but SS is starting up again this week, so yay for that. It's only 1 book a week but I will be trying for ones that fit here too. Michelle wrote: "Allison Ann, I live in fabulous sunny Las Vegas so we get to skip all of the snow and ice here. Never been to Las Vegas. Planned two trips back in my 20s and both times something catastrophic happened that resulted in me cancelling my trip. Now I'm a cranky old cat lady who hates crowds and I take my vacations only to unpopular places in the off-season. ;) Also I was right, today was winterish again. I don't plant flowers until mid-June usually.
SS - teams are chosen already. The first time I played I was a mid-game replacement though, people are always dropping out. It's a huge group.
Ahh, thank you for explaining, both of you.I was wondering does anyone listen to audio books? Also what format of book do you enjoy reading? EBook, paperback, hardcover, audio?
I read both paperback and kindle. A lot of the time I have one book going in each format - although I try to make them different genres to make it more difficult for me to confuse them.Never got into audio, as it seems so slow and is harder for me to pay attention to. I hate hardbacks because they are heavy and difficult to hold one handed.
I have all kinds of formats of reading. Paperback, hardcover, kindle, and a few audios. I tend to read a lot from my kindle but I read from my phone, kindle, and switch to paperback or hardcover. I love hardcover books but I tend to read big books and like you said Diane, that is difficult to hold. My hands and wrists start to hurt but it is pure satisfaction when finishing a 800+ page hardcover book. I guess it goes this way I read mostly kindle, secondly paperbacks, thirdly hardcovers, then audio.
Hello team Ruby! Just passing to say hi to my friend Rachel and wish you all a great game!Rachel, I liked your organization at the beginning of the thread! :)
Aww, thank you Juliana. You surprised me while I was sleeping. :) Such a awesome friend you are. This is going to be a lot of fun Juliana. I haven't done this challenge before but I have played it in another group so I'm not totally clueless. I know there is a lot of swopping around of the letter to get as many spell outs as possible.
That's where I learned what to be organized with. It's just an easier way to keep track.
Thanks for stopping by Juliana and I hope you have a blast!
Just five more days!
We are getting closer to the start date. I made a time zone converter for us on message 4. Before of the differences in time zones we are able to start early! Some of us get to start at 7pm on the 21st and others 9pm.
When the challenge starts, if you finish a book please post it in this thread with the book link and author, and all the possible ways it can fit with the spell out--including the names of the characters and/or series. This will make it easier for Michelle and myself when trying to match the books to the spell out letters.
Also, don't forget to add the finished book in your Wheel-A-Thon 2 Bookshelf. This is where Mods will verify the books.
There is going to be a lot of swopping around, so if you don't see your finished book being used right away, don't worry, it will.
If anyone has any questions please ask. I can't wait for this to start! I already have three books at the 95% mark. I'm working a few more today. Have a wonderful day everyone!
I have three books nearly finished right now and should get a couple more before the 21st. Can't wait to get started!
That's awesome Michelle. Looks like we are on our way to a good start.I signed up for 2 out of the 3 BoM for April. I will not read the YA one. Sorry, I just can't do anymore YA. So if someone is willing to sign up for DQs on that, it will be great.
I for sure have a spot with DQs for the BOM All the Light We Cannot See. That will give us those extra points.

I'm just allocating my previously read books (and finishing up a 100 pager) to my best advantage before signing up.
FYI, I will be starting The Gamble by Kristen Ashley (because I want a horse) and should finish around the 22nd. Definitely has A for author name, and S, H and M for characters - Nina Sheridan and Holden Maxwell.
Diane ~Firefly~ wrote: "You are evil. I looked this over after your mention and am hooked. I'm just allocating my previously read books (and finishing up a 100 pager) to my best advantage before signing up."I know. The Challenge is so fun! I love it. I was hooked from day one. My little hero is working hard. I have battled and defeated a bunch of sewer rats, goblins, and some brown bats. I beat one big monster and that was a big deal for me. I need to battle another soon but I'm waiting to level up first to get max HP. :) Feel free to check out my quest and us it as a guide or to copy from. link: Lady Rachel's Quest
I added the book to our spreadsheet and also put in Series C. :) Lots of good options. Happy Reading.
Your quest sounds super fun but I need another challenge like I need a hole in my head. *stands firm*I do most of my reading in actual books - not a big fan of electronic or audio. And now I am going to take my library book and go to bed. I could not sleep last night and 9 p.m. is a completely legitimate time for an adult to go to bed. :D Don't mock me.
Oh Allison Ann, you will join, I know you will. It's too tempting. Sorry to hear you didn't sleep well last night. Hope you sleep better tonight. 9pm is way to early for bedtime. That's the time I'd put the wee man to sleep. Now he is 17 and a night owl like me. I totally understand going to be early when there was a lack of sleep but 9pm is when things are just getting started. :P
Have fun reading!
Halfway through
by Anthony Doerr. I'll update with characters after work. Definitely an M for Marie-Laure.
Wonderful Michelle. I updated our spreadsheet to have the best possible spell out. If we read the books we posted we will have Shamrock finished four times! At this time we have two books not used. This means we can have shamrock filled out another time or those as filler books for just in case.
We are doing awesome. Keep it up everyone!
I have my six book at the 95% mark. I will finish them on the first day of the challenge.
: 469 pages, S = James Sullivan, A = Amy, M = Molly, C = John Cheese [I'm at the 95% mark]
: 340 pages, M = Deviana Morris, R = Rupert Chekov, C = Captain Caldswell [I'm at the 95% mark]
: 270 pages, S = Dr. Savioli, H = Schemajah Hillel, A = Athanasius Pernath, M = Author Gustav Meyrink, R = Rosina, C = Innocence Charousek [I'm at the 95% mark]
: 1006 pages, S = Jonathan Strange, A = Arthur Wellesley, C = Author Susanna Clarke [I'm at the 95% mark]
: 338 pages, S = Author Sylvia Day, A = Anne Lucas, M = Marie-Laure LeBlanc, R = Richard Stanton, C = Cary, K = Brett Kline [I'm at the 95% mark]
: 215 pages, S = Title, A = Amy Elliott, M = Montana Wildhack, R = Roland Weary, K = Kurt Vonnegut [I'm at the 95% mark]
I switch out books all the time. I tend to read 5 to 20 books, switching back and forth. I'm actually able to keep track of all them. The two books I'm actually really wanting to know the ending and having troubles with is Slaughterhouse-five and John Dies at the End. I have a lot of really awesome books lined up, so the switch out is easy for me. I try not to think about it, I have these books just hanging there. :( Right now I'm reading Beat to a Pulp: Superhero which is a collection of short stories. This makes it really easy. I just can leave the last story and finish it out on the 22nd.
Evening team. I have somehow agreed to bake 3 cakes and four pies tonight and it is almost 8 p.m. already. I have to get up early tomorrow and drive my brother to town before work also, so I'd better get my ass in gear. I promise once this challenge actually starts I'll be around more.
Oh my goodness Allison Ann! That's crazy. I'd buy them. Don't worry about it. You've checked in and we know you're around.
I've made a countdown clock. I put in on message 4 for easy access. Since we are starting up the challenge in Australian Time we get to start on the 21st in the evening.
Countdown Clock
Countdown Clock For Wheel-A-Thon
Finished my baking at 2:30 a.m. Left for town at 6 a.m. 2 1/2 hours driving. Cleaning for 8 hours. Small nap when I got home. :) Read about 8 pages so far and I don't think I'll get through much more before bedtime. Tomorrow is a nice relaxing store day though, so I should get through 1-2 books at least. Thanks so much for the countdown clock Rachel. I'm absolutely rubbish at timezones.
Oh my goodness Allison Ann! That is one crazy day. I totally understand not reading. If I had a night and day like that I would not read. I'd sleep. Today has been a busy work day. My 13 hour work day will be over in 3.5 hours. I have been able to read some but I don't think I will get to the 95% mark tonight. It's a 514 page book.
You're very welcome about the countdown clock. I hope it helps.
Lemon meringue pie in oven. The problem (or bonus depending on how tired you are) with delivering baked goods is that other people tend to see whatever delicious thing you are delivering and want one of their own. :D Best thing about this, leftover lemon curd to eat on my toast for breakfast. Damn, I should have made crepes. I tried to pick a book for SS that doesn't work for this challenge because I want to finish it today, but the best I could come up with was something that only works for S. I figure we will have lots of S books so no need to feel guilty about not dragging it out for 2 days. :)
Good day all!
Renee wrote: "The official countdown to the beginning of the challenge is HERE"Thanks, good to know our clocks match up.
:)
Allison Ann wrote: "Lemon meringue pie in oven. I didn't finish it today, work was actually too busy for much reading, yay! So I will try and drag it out to finish after 8 p.m. tomorrow. It has M and R characters in it too. I'll start a Kevin O'Brien for my bedtime book instead.I think we should go for 6 times. :D
Yay Allison Ann! The more books the better. We can totally do 6 books. We have two books planned for the 5th spell out so far.
Important Reminder:Challenge Starts in 21 hours and 19 minutes!
When posting a finished book please post the book link, author, number of pages, and all possible ways for the spell out. Please add the names/nicknames/series name. Also, to add it in your Wheel-A-Thon bookshelf.
