I turned 10 years old in the 1960s.
1964
The Beatles hold the top 5 positions in the Billboard Top 40 singles in America, an unprecedented achievement. Due mostly to the explosive growth, fragmentation, and marketing of popular music since, this is certain to never happen again. The top songs in America as listed on April 4, in order, are: "Can't Buy Me Love," "Twist and Shout," "She Loves You," "I Want to Hold Your Hand," and "Please Please Me."

The Twist and Shout Murder (A Swinging Sixties Mystery, #1) by Teresa Trent The Twist and Shout Murder
The book's title contains one of Billboard's top five songs of 4/4/1965.

I turned 10 in 1960's
For this challenge I read 11/22/63
Detailing the assassination of Kennedy

I found this a real change from the normal King Horror / thriller It did have its suspenseful moments and more than a smattering of horror and thrill but the emphasis was on time travel and the altering of Historical events.

It is a lengthy book that I read as part of another group's BOM. Many readers felt it was drawn out and maybe lacked a certain something. However, I really enjoyed the whole premise and thought King did a great job of walking us through the late 50's and early 60's America.

It also dealt well with the aspects of time travelling, the action/reaction that occurs in changing events and of course the butterfly effect. I loved the MC - Jake and was completely drawn in by him. Not so keen on Sadie who I felt was a bit less realistically drawn but an oveerall 4 star read for me

Janice (jamasc) | 59884 comments I debated reading that one too Marie, but I had read it shortly after it was published and decided to go with something else. It was a perfect book to read for the 60's.
