Sue | 2713 comments My last roll was a 4, so combined with my 6:5:6 I should receive a special advantage.

And...because I rolled a 5:6, I need to read a book from another person's board. I think I can pick out who's board and which book to read right (assuming its not on my own board)?

Randomizer owes you big time.

I hopped off the train and ended up flying when I hit 15.

Will be interested in seeing how you like Where the Crawdads Sing. I started it on audible, but just could not do it. Not sure if I want to continue on kindle or dtb.

Sue,

When a roll is more than two dice it stands alone and does not confer any special advantages by combining with other rolls nor does it confer any obligations.

So there's no special roll. And there's no need to read a book from another person. More than two dice just stand alone.

Love Crawdads - probably going to be a 5 star for me. Will have a lot to say about it and would absolutely encourage you to try it again -- it's a read I think, not a listen but then I'm biased against 'listens' unless it's a book I've already read at some point in my life.

Anita Pomerantz | 9280 comments Joy D wrote: "Anita, My last 2 rolls were 6,4, which I believe qualifies for a special advantage. :-)"

Joy, your special advantage is obtained by taking today's date, and multiplying it by the number of runs scored by your favorite baseball team tonight (if they don't play tonight then it will be tomorrow night - - but it will be 5x (a number to be determined). Please report your team when you get this message so we can follow along.

Sure thing! It's not really in the rules, but was established quite early on with the leaders' asking about it . . .so it's somewhere in writing, but I am not quite sure where at this point! Sorry for any confusion!!

OMG Sue! that's quite a raft of add ons to the rolls!

On 5:6 - yes you pick a book for another board, anyone's board at any level - just not from your own. I had this one - and read Hamnet from BnB's Clerk board. Then ID it on your tracking. '

Hint: There are a few studly men hunky dog reads on my boards .... just in case you are wondering....🐕💪

ETA: I should have done what I usually do and not stated what I thought was the answer. However, it did give me the opportunity to direct you to some hunky dogs and studly men - for future reference.

Just to clarify for everyone's benefit. Sue's roll is not a 5-6. There's a 5-6 contained within it, but when more than two dice are rolled, it doesn't count as a special roll even if two of the dice appear to reflect one.

Haha - I stashed a few studly men and hunky dogs in my Porter list. You know...in case the cabana boys are just too busy. 😂

Thanks, unfortunately, I needed 4, 5, or 6 to move ahead. The 2 I got puts me on a book I read, and I have to go all the way back to the book on space 1 to get one I haven't read. I will stay on space 4 and will try again at my next roll. If I get 1, 2, or 3 again, I will need to read a book from my last board. I don't think there any special rolls that will apply. I could be here a long time!

message 113: by Olivermagnus (new)

 Olivermagnus (lynda11282) | 4762 comments I have a question.

My roll 1 was a 6
My roll 2 was a 4
My roll 3 (today) was a 6

I got a special advantage from roll 1 and roll 2. When I read the rule it looked like I might be able to use roll 2 again as part of a special role.
Anita answered very directly that both rolls would be considered special. The prior number wouldn't be "used up"

I'm totally fine if I don't get another advantage because I've had some good rolls lately.

Thanks.

Thanks. It just seemed a little too lucky to believe. Last week my hot water heater died and last night our oven died. They aren't that old, less than ten years. But it's a pain to have to replace two major appliances the same week. I have $50 on the dishwasher breaking next.

I remember the days of such appliances lasting 30 even 40 years. In fact I had a 50 year old gas stove/oven in one NYC apartment and it was fab. You did have to light oven and burners with a match but easy.

It's because they have all these electronics now.

Speaking of electronics, I went through replacing laptop, tablet, and phone all in same month.

You do get another advantage . . .

For this advantage, you will need to wait a little bit. On the first day of voting (on June 15th), you will get the chance to move ahead based on the number of people who cast the same vote as you do during the first 48 hours of voting. So if you pick Tag A on the vote and 7 other people also select Tag A, you will be able to move ahead 7 spaces. Please help me remember to convey this number to you when the time comes.

No worries - - the special move is like an advantage roll (albeit of a huge DIE) and divides them up, so we are all set!

Joy D | 10073 comments I am ready for another roll (3)!

My last book was 608 pages:
https://www.amazon.com/SPQR-History-A...

Also, Anita please review comments below of my planned next move:

For my recent special advantage: "Joy, your special advantage is obtained by taking today's date, and multiplying it by the number of runs scored by your favorite baseball team tonight (if they don't play tonight then it will be tomorrow night - - but it will be 5x (a number to be determined)."

My team scored 10 runs! The Giants beat the Rockies 10-4 last night. So the total move is 50.

I will use this special advantage to move off the end of the Conductor Loop 1 Board. I am planning to use the dice roll on the next Board (assuming that's ok to do). Please let me know if I need to do anything differently.

My Conductor Loop 2 Board is ready for a screenshot.

Pam is heading back to the Caboose! Looking forward - you'll arrive at the same time as Joy in her spiffy conductor uniform starting her 3rd tour as Conductor. Olivermagnus is around somewhere -- I think I need to check the Master Gameboards after their next update.

Who all is still in the Caboose -- on #1 - #15 on their gameboards? Or arriving after their next roll?

We have Pam, myself (I've one more book to read before banishment back to Clerk). Others? Joanne - you are usually around the same place, Amy?
