Gabriel and the shifters now have control over Mallory. What do you think of their approach to handling her?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Hmm... don't want my blood pressure going through the roof after answering the last question, so I'm moving on to the next question, lol!

I actually believe they're working on stripping her down so she can recreate herself differently. What they're doing to her is humbling. Plus, they're the bigger threat to get, too. She could be killed in a flash.

There's something noble yet sinister in their approach. We will see.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I like the shifters and agree that their method for breaking Mallory down and rebuilding her has merit and could work with someone who has not committed the atrocities that Mallory has.

By redeeming Mallory's character, it is as if her despicable deeds are forgiven and forgotten, which diminishes her evil in a way that I have a hard time accepting. She's not a naughty puppy who should get a smack on the nose for peeing on the carpet.

I'm not sure what else there is to do with her short of killing her. She's lost everything and I really hope Catcher doesn't go back to her. She not only betrayed him, she used him. I still don't hear her being sorry for what she did, just that she's messed up and has fallen from grace.

Still don't like her but like the idea that the thing she wanted most....acknowledgement that she was special, more special than Merit, will never happen and the opposite has occurred. There's a sort of irony there.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I agree. She definitely is not contrite enough and the excuses that she makes seem an attempt to reduce her culpability and responsibility. She's never going to be redeemed in my eyes.

It is ironic and well-deserved.

Me, either, Lauren. I'm not even sure I'd like to see her continued in the series. Merit and Catcher need to move on.

Erin (erin36) | 113 comments I think I'm biased here because I have a deep love for the shifters in this series. I loved that they were able to step in and take control when no one else seemed to be able to. When they rode in on their motorcycles at the silo well ... that was just a really cool moment and don't get me started on geeky Jeff! Love him!

For some reason I felt the 'punishment' made sense coming from the shifters. I liked their take on it. What I didn't like was that everyone decided she was deserving of that chance. Like you both, I haven't felt a satisfying amount of remorse or contrition from her. She should at least be in jail. I don't think being weak in the face of evil is an acceptable reasoning for her choices.

Totally agree about Merit and Catcher! And in the end when Catcher was trying to protect Mallory when she was asked to funnel Dominic's magic through Ethan I was just sick over it. I wish he would walk away and leave that spoiled sorceress in his dust!

Oh ... and when she was crying to Merit because Catcher told her he didn't know if he could be with her. Suck it up Buttercup!!! Did she really think she could just carry on as usual? Ugh.

Phew. Guess I had a rant in me too!;)

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Tell us how you really feel, Erin ;0)

I agree with you 100% - Mallory needs to be on her way out!

Preaching to the choir here! Love your rant:)

"Suck it up, Buttercup" LOVE it!

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments Are any of you fans of Buffy? This whole Mallory storyline reminds me of Season 6 of Buffy when Willow became addicted to using her magic, went crazy when her girlfriend was killed, and went on a rampage even killing a human. She was taken away and they started over with her teachings, stripped her down to the bare essentials of learning magic and taught her how to control her addiction. I think this is what the Shifters are doing with Mallory...stripping her down and starting over with her. Maybe she'll be a better character when they're done with her. She's never been a favorite of mine.

I've not watched Buffy but I agree with your supposition. It makes sense.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I stopped watching Buffy a long time before then. It is a very similar storyline, which makes me think that it isn't very original. Kind of like the similarities between Bones and Spike.
