Chirag Chadha | 1 comments hello guy..... which one is more in fashion paper book or ebooks?

message 2: by Annelien (new)

Annelien Mes Personally I don't mind. I love the feel of a real paper book, but I also love how practical a kindle is when I travel.

message 3: by Shay (new)

Shay (shaylyn318) | 61 comments I read in whatever format I can get it on. I love reading and am not picky.

message 4: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (mcdawn73) | 74 comments For me it depends on what I'm doing. I still like the feel of a real book but love the convenience of my Kindle. I like to read while soaking in a bubble bath and I don't use my Kindle there for obvious reasons. I don't buy all the books I read because I don't have that kind of money so I get whatever format the library has (paper, ebook or audio). I listen to those at work. I always read when I go to bed and my Kindle is the choice there so I don't have to have a light on.

message 5: by Gar (new)

Gar (dublin_reader) Find ebooks are great. I haven't read a paper book since I got an ereader. I like that when you finish a book you have a book to read with you straight away.
Also ebooks are cheaper to buy than physical books

message 6: by Sara (new)

Sara (sharrisonrickert) | 6 comments This tore me up for a long time, I used to be 100% hard copy book and refused to read anything on my husbands ereader. But, I finally gave in and started using it in conjunction with a real book. I usually keep the hard copy book I'm reading at home and then take my ereader around with me in my bag so I can read my other book anywhere I am. Plus side; if I happen to finish my book on my break or on the bus, I can just go on reading the next one on my ereader instead of carrying around 2 hard copy books. I can live with ereaders, as long as they don't encourage the phasing out of physical books, theres just something better about having a thick paperback in your hands.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Personally I like paper books better. But I tend to run out of room on my bookshelf. So having e-books are better for storage. Plus you can read in the dark. Then I usually tend to miss flipping pages in my hand and smelling the ink.

message 8: by Soph ♡ (new)

Soph ♡ I do love my paperbacks, however due to shortage of space I do tend to use my Kindle a lot. It's also much more useful when buying books, I don't even have to leave the comfort of my sofa! ;)

message 9: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (iamhorriblylimited) I love eBooks and I even have a Nook, but there's something about physical books that I love.

message 10: by Cheri (new)

Cheri Easterwood (chereaste) | 3 comments I never thought I would be able to give up paper books. I bought my eleven year old twins kindles for christmas which did wonders for their comprehension (being able to highlight and tag pages) and vocabulary (the built in dictionary). I borrowed it during a road trip and after being able to read in a dark car at night I was hooked. I love having 20+ books with me at a time, being able to finish a book and start another within minutes. I am in love with my Kindle it is unreal. Practicality won out with me.

Canadian Jen Paper copies! Although I would like to transition to an ereader eventually.

Rach (rsjreads) | 2955 comments Mod
Paper back copies :)

message 14: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (perpetualbookworm) I prefer paper books. there is something wonderful about holding the actual book in your hand and turning the page. I also love to share what I read and you can't hand your best friend your e-copy of books and say I think you will really enjoy this. don't get me wrong ebooks have easier portability and they don't take up half your livi NH space but still paper books are my favorite.

message 15: by Julie (new)

Julie Edwards | 19 comments I love paperbacks. Especially if I'm on a flight or at the beach. If I'm reading at night I find myself enjoying the soft light of my kindle. ;)

message 16: by Caleb (new)

Caleb (irishmac473) Over the past couple years I've become totally committed to the Kindle. Right now I'm reading on a Kindle Paperwhite. I usually won't read a book if there isn't an ereader version of it.

message 17: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tjohn33791) I have a Nook but, I prefer to read on paper. It's less strenuous on the eyes.

message 18: by Veronique (new)

Veronique I love paperbacks/hardbacks (the tactile feeling, the smell, turning pages - better experience altogether) but at the same time I really appreciate the ease of ebooks and have Kindle and iPad. Since I don't have tons of space and already over 2,250 'paper' books, I thought I would rely more on ebooks, but after a few years, I've kind of returned to the old format. Also, if I ever read an ebook that I loved, I'll end up buying the paperback too :O)

message 19: by Marie80 (new)

Marie80 | 2 comments Paper books of course!!!

message 20: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (elizabeth1234561) | 13 comments I used to really prefer paperback, but lately I've been reading a lot more on my Kindle. Mostly it's because I've been borrowing certain books for school and the eLibrary in my state is pretty fantastic, so I can get them faster/easier when I can't actually go to the library, but nothing compares to feeling and smelling an actual book.

message 21: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wmaresca) Love the smell and feel of paper back, but I have to say my iPad and Kindle are what I use the most. So easy books at my fingertips anytime I want them.

message 22: by Alie (new)

Alie (alienicole) | 7 comments I bought an E reader before, and loved the convenience of it. But I didn't get the satisfaction and good feeling of when I buy a paperback book. So now I mostly read paperbacks but have one e book going at all times as a backup.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

I would like to have a copy of the book for both! Sometimes my kindle (the only one) is taken by my husband or kids when I want to read. At night, if I am reading a paper back, I hate using a head lamp and my husband starts to complain if the lamp is on too long!

message 24: by Canadian Jen (new)

Canadian Jen Old school - paper books. Haven't yet transitioned to ebooks...just unappealing!

message 25: by Holly (new)

Holly | 35 comments I prefer paper books, but I do read e-books.

message 26: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tjohn33791) Alisya wrote: "I prefer paperbacks but I like to get new releases/book I'm not sure about as ebooks on overdrive through my library."

Alisya, That is how I use my Nook. I buy traditional books and borrow E-books.

message 27: by Capricious_Reads (new)

Capricious_Reads Most definitely paper books. There's nothing like the smell of an old book, snuggled under a blanket, with a cup of tea or coffee. The feeling of putting a bookmark in the book and finishing the page later on. It's all quite nice.

message 28: by Diane (new)

Diane I tried e-books, but I began to have book envy when I saw someone in public reading a paper book. I went back to paper and have not looked back.

message 29: by Canadian Jen (new)

Canadian Jen Diane wrote: "I tried e-books, but I began to have book envy when I saw someone in public reading a paper book. I went back to paper and have not looked back."

Me too. But I think there are lots of freebies by virtue of an ereader. I haven't even tried it yet.

message 30: by Joy (new)

Joy | 110 comments I prefer paper books but some copies I have are really big and difficult to read in bed, so an ebook is easier for certain books. Also, I spent a few months abroad and it was so easy to bring my whole library and an ereader without taking up any space. As well as that, I had so many books with me, I had no fear of running out. (I couldn't speak the language when I arrived, so libraries and bookshops over there weren't much use either.)

message 31: by Kath (new)

Kath I prefer Paper books , But I sometimes have to read ebooks

message 32: by Katarzyna (new)

Katarzyna (kasiaaaa) | 4 comments I have always been like: 'Paper book. End of disscussion!!'
but I bought my first Kindle last month (I don't why, maybe because it struck me how cheap it was) and started using it as soon as I got home. It's not better than a paper book, but I like it.
I hope it will stop me from buying more books as there's no room in my house anymore ;)

I'm totally on the same boat. :-))
I'm usually very stubborn about technology, BUT I LOOOOOOVE my Kindle. I still don't like reading books on computer or phone, but Kindle is different, especially the PAPERWHITE /no glare like Kindle fire or IPAD/

Don't let me wrong, I still go to library and buy paper-books, but only the ones I really want to keep. I still travel with both, Kindle and paper books.

Here are the PRO for e-reader.
▶︎books are cheaper
▶︎many free books
▶︎they don't get dirty on the beach, lake, snow....
▶︎no clutter, no storage issue
▶︎travel, the weight restriction
▶︎dictionary /amazing tool/
▶︎bookmarks /another amazing tool/
▶︎letters adjustment /my eyes are tired in the evening, I made them bigger for less strain/

CONS
▶︎I can't think of any....:-))

So, if we're still arguing which is better??? Why not have them both. :-)))))

message 34: by Tracy (new)

Tracy (tjohn33791) There is a time and place for each. I happen to prefer paper books, myself. I have an E reader and if you read strictly fiction I can understand an E reader. Reading from a screen fatigues my eyes quicker than paper. I read around 50 books a year and I tend to give many books to my friends or donate them to my local library, so, I don't have the clutter problem. The only pro an E reader has for me is the easy access to library books. I thought the free books were great at first but, I have yet to read a really good free book and most have been a waste of time.

message 35: by Laura (new)

Laura Luzzi (hopeluzzigmailcom) Definitely paper books.

message 36: by Eleanor (new)

Eleanor Zavada (ellie83) | 15 comments Paper books easily. Tried reading from my Kindle...awkward.

message 37: by Erin (new)

Erin (bookbemine) | 10 comments I like E-Books when it comes to traveling because it's super convenient but paper books definitely have my heart. I like to be able to feel and see the accomplishment lol. But there is the whole benefit of all the freebie reads like everyone has been saying that come with the e-readers.

Storage is really the only thing e-readers have over physical books. But I think it's safe to say it's paper for me.

message 38: by Caecilia (new)

Caecilia Saori :-) I prefer to actually, hold a book in my hands - smell the pages - put it in my bag - have it with me and see my reading progress.

but the Kindle has its advantages. many book releases are cheaper and faster available as an ebook. what I do is that I sometimes, read the ebook and if I really like it, buy the paperback later on.

message 39: by Cortney (new)

Cortney I love them all... sort of!

Paperback - for whatever reason my thumb cramps and I REFUSE to break the binding! So maybe that is why, but ever since I was pregnant with my daughter I have periodically battles carpal tunnel in my left hand, who knows!

Hardcovers I LOVE bc I can lay them down without holding the book and just read, there is not struggling with pages. My library carries mostly hardcovers (for obvious reasons) so I utilize that as much as possible. Besides then I am not spending money on something I may not like!

Kindle GREAT for traveling, reading at night so the light does not bother anyone else. Easy to carry with you anywhere and have books at the touch of a finger! Links directly to my library for instant downloads. Yeah I'm not picky!

message 40: by Haley M (new)

Haley M (mythoughtsareablog) I love paper books! There is just something about going into a bookstore and picking up a few new books. I also like to display my books like some would display shoes or artifacts....then again that is probably just my nerd instincts. I however do not smell my novels. I used to be into nook and all that, but then I realized that it hurt my eyes after a while!

message 41: by Lana (new)

Lana Jackson | 48 comments I love paper books, I love my bookcases.

message 42: by Marie (new)

Marie Østvold (xmariexf) | 16 comments I'm in fact somewhat a snob when it comes to books. I prefer hardcover old, used, novels. Estethically beautiful, even though it doesn't really make any difference to the story. I only get pockets when I cannot find any other copy. And I really dislike covers with the movieadaption photo...

message 43: by Rach , Moderator (new)

Rach (rsjreads) | 2955 comments Mod
I agree. I am really not loving the movie adaptation covers.

I do however love the anniversary covers that certain books have had!

message 44: by Linda (new)

Linda Martin (lindajm) I like to use my Kindle, audiobooks, and paperbacks (or hardcover, whatever) . . . really, they each are best in different situations.

Kindle is great for a bedtime book, or for reading while waiting for an appointment, or for taking on bicycle rides in case I want to rest for a while and catch up on my reading.

Audiobooks are great for listening to while housecleaning, traveling by car, or taking walks.

Paperbacks are for those lovely times when I can curl up in a big comfy chair and just enjoy reading.

Cortney Linda wrote: "I like to use my Kindle, audiobooks, and paperbacks (or hardcover, whatever) . . . really, they each are best in different situations.

I couldn't agree with you more!

message 46: by K (new)

K (bookish_kayjinx) I used to have a Kindle, but I traded it for a tablet (for school) but I still use it as an e-reader.
I used to be 100% physical book copies all the way, but I gave the digital book world a try and fell in love!
I read physical books at home mostly (I would hate to damage my babies), listen to audiobooks in transit and traveling, and ebooks in conjunction with audiobooks or by themselves.
An e-reader is just more convenient; it weighs very little and I can carry a whole collection of books everywhere I go.
Also, when reading before sleeping, as in being in bed, e-readers are easier to maneuver to certain positions to allow you to drift to sleep.

I think that bookaholics will use any format to get their book fix, and I fall in the category. Heck, I listen to audiobooks while shopping instead of listening to the store's radio. Why stop your story if you have the option to continue?

message 47: by Nick (new)

Nick Green (nickppgreen2014) I prefer all the formats really: paperback, hardback, even ebook.

I read ebooks when I'm away on holiday, as I can't take all the books I want with me.

message 48: by ~Teresa (new)

~Teresa I'm not particular! I love the feel and smell of books in my hands but the convenience of my Kindle or iPad or phone just can't be beat. I cannot take enough books on vacation unless I take my Kindle. There's a place for everything is my motto. Yikes, my organization gene is peeking out!

message 49: by Phil (new)

Phil Hamman (philhamman) | 12 comments It has to be a paperback or hardcover. I'm not a big fan of technology and use it only when I have to. When I read a book, it's my time to unhook from screens and computers!

message 50: by Guy (new)

Guy Austin I need Paper. I get lost and don't feel right reading on a tablet. I cant do audio. I find myself drifting off in thought and suddenly cant recall where I was and have to search for my place.
