I think I read it in the late 90s or sometime around that time period. I think I purchased it new. The cover was pretty neat, two kids trying to fight off some sci fi monster in the BG while on another planet, and in the foreground a younger girl is on a laptop computer facing forward.

It was part of a series, I remember being really confused as events that already happened were mentioned. These kids have mind powers or magic or something. The older kids got them in previous entries, this one was about a younger sister getting the powers.

It opens with older siblings waking up with sounds of family arguments outside her room and uses their powers to "mute" the shouting so she can go back to sleep. She decides to "unmute" because they could no longer hear the birds chirping out side, and just decides to get up. The little girl discovers her powers through the use of a laptop, although the laptop is really just a conduit into her mind. She uses the password "red5" from star wars, I didn't get that reference at the time. (did not watch starwars until the prequal trilogy started coming out). She uses the computer/her powers to transport her to other realms and stuff but is so powerful and it comes so easy to her that her older sister? and friend need to go after her through space and time to save her from herself.

I really wanted to read the rest of the series when I was younger, but can't remember the title! Please help if you can!
