Drace (dracenines) | 7558 comments The horror publisher Death's Head Press/Stygian Sky Media has an ongoing anthology-style book series called Splatter Westerns that is a collection of a bunch of different authors writing horror western novels. Most of the books are disconnected, but they are all considered part of the same series by the publisher.

There are several issues that need to be taken care of:

For a Few Souls More by Wile E. Young is listed as Book 1.5 in the series. This is incorrect. The .5 implies that it is a short story or a novella, when in actuality, it is a full-length book. Because the numbering of the series is based on the chronological order that the books are published in, it should actually be #14 of the series, and Ballad of the Werevixens by Kristopher Triana should be #16 (I'll get to #15 later in this post).

However, because For a Few Souls More is a direct sequel to the earlier Splatter Western novel The Magpie Coffin, I believe a second series for these two books should be created. I am unsure of how the author or publisher refers to these books, but either calling the series The Magpie Coffin (after the first book) or Salem Covington (after the main character) seems appropriate. The Magpie Coffin would be Book #1, For a Few Souls More would be Book #2.

Similarly, Ballad of the Werevixens is a sequel to an earlier book in the series, The Thirteenth Koyote. As such, a new series called The Thirteenth Koyote should be created, with the titular book as #1 and Werevixens as #2.

Finally, the most recent and upcoming books in Splatter Westerns need to be numbered. How The Skin Sheds by Chad Lutske should be #15, Werevixens should be #16 as mentioned earlier, and Cruel Angels Past Sundown by Hailey Piper should be #17.

Thanks for any and all help with these issues. It is very much appreciated.

I did everything you had requested except for one thing: I didn't create any new series for the aforementioned books (The Magpie Coffin - For a Few Souls More; The Thirteenth Koyote - Ballad of the Werevixens) because I thought it would have been inappropriate. First, they aren't officially treated as simultaneous parts of two separate series by the authors or the publisher in question. Second, the fact that the latters are sequels to the formers is clearly indicated in their descriptions.
