malak ☼ | 0 comments because i read before we were strangers months ago and i remember that i loved it soo much i gave it a solid 5 stars but then my bestfriend read it and said it was horrible and also a bunch of other review said the same and they mentioned why they think it's bad and i kinda feel like yea they got a point so i wanna give it a low rating but then i remember how much i enjoyed the book and I don't wanna rate a book based on other people's opinions but like THEY HAVE A POINT so idk what to do now

Hanna☾₊‧⁺˖⋆ (Free Palestine) I do that too, I'll really enjoy something and then read the rubbish reviews and be like, yeah they had a point, it makes me so nervous to ever give my opinion on a book :(

lex | 17 comments I’ve definitely read reviews of books I’ve rated 5 stars and agreed with some of their points. But, I usually keep my rating because I can acknowledge the flaws with a book and still have loved reading it. I guess it depends on how much you weigh writing quality versus enjoyment when rating 🤷‍♀️

darcey ♡ if im rating something 4 stars and everyone else rates it 1/2 i take it down to a 3

Vivi (vivisreading) | 13 comments books are subjective to interpretation and everyone can feel different about them. it’s good we all have different opinions and can talk and discuss them :) you can agree with some points someone makes ofc and realize they are right about things but never let that change your feelings for a book.

Emilia (stabbedbyiago) | 11 comments in my case, not really. oftentimes my love for it outweighs the criticisms even when it is valid. it really is subjective, so we should be as true to our genuine thoughts and feelings towards the text as much as possible without prejudice

Shelley Burbank | 67 comments That's a tough thing when it happens. If you enjoyed the process of reading the book and it left you feeling happy and/or satisfied, great! Sometimes reading criticisms helps you grow as a reader for the next time...maybe helps you look at different aspects of the NEXT book. But love the reading experience you had and don't let someone else darken your experience. It's subjective!

Judith G (t swizzle version) | 306 comments Yeah I read a book that was rated only like 3.8 stars when I thought it was 5 stars
