I read this book as a child many years ago, possibly 2014-2016 (unsure). it might be an Australian book since the school i read it in had many Australia authors because the school is in Australia. The book is the 2nd in the series, it features a young boy with his friend who might possibly be an adult in a fantasy world who solves puzzles, he gets these goggles that solve puzzles for him. In the previous book he had only a book with instructions in it on what to do. Multiple events/arcs happen in which one of them was the duo had to go underground into the sewers to fight somebody called the 'stink king' and his goons. Another arc was when the duos had to blend in with aliens/enemies who talked with 2 added words after every vowel but the friend forgets in one of his words and blows their cover causing them to have to fight or run (one of the two).

Hi Jordan, just to clarify, is this an interactive sort of book where the readers are expected to help try to solve the puzzles, or is it just a straightforward novel? What kinds of puzzles does the boy have to solve? How do the goggles solve puzzles for him?

Could this be Artemis Fowl by Erin Colfer? That book series has an intelligent kid that uses high tec weapons and devices. There are fae creatures as well.
