Kate S | 6459 comments Listopia Chain

Read a book of your choice. Pick a listopia associated with your book. Your book could be anywhere on the Listopia. The example below is that the first book in the chain happens to be #1 on the Listopia, but that is not required. Choose your Listopia carefully, because your Book #2 must be in the Top 100 of that linking Listopia.

Find another Listopia where your second book is in any position. On that new Listopia, your third book will be in the Top 100. And so on.

15.1 If Tomorrow Comes https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2... (#1)
15.2 The Big Bounce (#38 on previous list)
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/6... (#58)
15.3 Dandelion Wine (#17 on previous list)
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/6... (#5)
15.4 Rose Madder (#15 on previous list)
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/8... (#46)
15.5 Relic (#19 on previous list)
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2... (#65)
15.6 The Last Templar (#71 on previous list)
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/2... (#10)

Scoring
15.1-15.4: 15 points
15.5-15.7: 20 points
15.8-15.9 30 points
15.10: 40 points

Finisher Bonus 100 points

Please post any discussion about the 15-point challenge in this thread.

Yes! You've got it.

Kathleen (itpdx) (itpdx) | 1720 comments There used to be a feature of “lists with this book”. Since I have been relegated to the new format, I haven’t been able to find it. It sure would be helpful! Anyone found it?

It's at the very bottom of the new book page. It can take a bit of scrolling (and sometimes I have experienced a bit of lag), but the lists including the book should be at the bottom.

Ha! I was looking at a book that evidently wasn’t on any lists!

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14224 comments Listopia is edition specific. Often the most lists are on the default edition, which you are perfectly within your right to use.

Anika | 2793 comments I know Graphic Novels are usually a no-go for the 15-point tasks...has that rule been suspended for this season? I saw the Lexile suspension for summer but hadn't seen any reference to graphic novels. By the way, this summer season looks to be a lot of fun!! Can't wait for June 1st already :-)

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14224 comments Yes, all books 100 pages and over are a go.

Yay!!!! So many books that I'll be able to cross off my TBR that I've been putting off because they won't work for RwS! So excited!

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14224 comments I need to lock in Winter in Madrid as #100 on the list

Does that mean we can use a list associated with any edition of a book?
Example, I’d like to use The Many Deaths of Laila Starr #2 this list
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

And the paperback edition is #2 on the list I’d like to hop to
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14224 comments The list you use must be consistent with the chain. You do not have to use the list associated with the default edition, but both of the books you use must be on the same list. Example: your third and fourth books in your chain must come from the same list, even if only one or neither is the default edition.

Ann (lit_chick_77) | 551 comments I think I understand… my scenario would be breaking the chain, correct?
Book 1 hardcover, list A
Book 2 hardcover list A , new list B vs Book 2 paperback new list C
Book 3 hardcover list C

Yes, that would break the chain.

It's this part that doesn't work: new list B vs Book 2 paperback new list C

Karen Michele Burns (klibrary) | 5271 comments Do we need to read the 15 point tasks in the order of our chain?

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14224 comments Karen Michele wrote: "Do we need to read the 15 point tasks in the order of our chain?"

yes.

Karen Michele Burns (klibrary) | 5271 comments Thanks - I had to do a bit of rearranging for a book that isn't readily available yet.

Yes, that's the problem with chains. I'm glad you found a way to work it.

message 21: by Rebekah (new)

Rebekah (bekalynn) If we repeat this subchallenge, are we permitted to use the same lists again, only with different books?

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14224 comments Rebekah wrote: "If we repeat this subchallenge, are we permitted to use the same lists again, only with different books?"

Yes.

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14224 comments I should have locked in some titles.

When I made my plan, I used

Best World Mysteries https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/9...

for The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax as #92 on this list. I didn't think to save it and it has been relegated to #106. It chains from The Queen of the South which has been bumped to #101.

Broken chain. I'm so sad. I'll just have to fill in with multiple reads on the 20 pointers.

Oh - that's annoying!

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14224 comments Yeah, I'm bummed. But I guess I can spend a bit of time seeing if I can make a new branch. On the Perez-Reverte book list is a trilogy, Berlin Noir: March Violets / The Pale Criminal / A German Requiem and I had planned to read the 2nd sometime soon. Maybe the time is now. I'll see if I can make things work from there.
