L J | 625 comments I ran across this and others similar on M.L. Buchman while working on proof copies.

(Fire Light Fire Bright) By (author) M L Buchman published on

Imported by bot April 27, 2023. Sort by title of course makes these the first books on list.
https://www.goodreads.com/author/list...

I started to just mark them invalid but then decided to ask is this, like proof copies, something that is becoming common?

Yes

Scott | 8709 comments Yes, the new process is bringing in absolutely every junk record now. You can mark them invalid if you like, but I think it is a waste of time.

Elizabeth (Alaska) It is a waste of time if users have to scroll through that stuff looking at an author's list of books. These will not appear in the list when marked Invalid.

Okay, thanks.

I'd run across very few of these in the past. Not going to search for them but when I run across them on author list will probably mark them invalid for the sake of the author and readers.

It is a waste of our time because it will be endless. For every record we remove, two more will appear in its place. Support should deal with it.

Two more will appear anyway. Yes, these should not be imported. I don't know why you're here, but I'm here to help make it easier for users to find books and the information presented is what they need. For this purpose, this junk needs to be marked Invalid. Your purpose may be entirely different.

Scott | 8709 comments I'm here to correct assorted "honest" mistakes that occur in book records (because nothing is perfect). Sticking my finger in a dike in a hopeless attempt to stem a massive flood of material that should never have been brought in in the first place is not in the same category, in my opinion. I hope you continue to enjoy your work.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Scott wrote: "I'm here to correct assorted "honest" mistakes that occur in book records"

Then why did you correct an Invalid this morning that had been made by the bot? Why do you correct Proof editions? Why do you do anything, because nothing these days is what you would term "honest" mistakes.

Scott | 8709 comments There are plenty of corrections needed that are not a result of a mass movement like this. If it is part of another request I may take care of that as well. It's nice to know that you are watching over me, though. :)
